In Slavic tradition, if someone dies at home we cover all mirrors so the soul will not be trapped in it, we stop the clock at the time of death and we open windows and doors so the soul can be free and travel to heaven.

In our Jewish families when we lose someone we sit Shiva(I believe that's the spelling). We cover the mirrors and don't use ANYTHING that you can see a reflection in. Our meals are eaten on paper or plastic plates with plastic utensils and cups.

My paternal grandmother was 6 years old when this happened. She, her mother and her 2 sisters lived not far from the house where this happened. Grandma said that after this happened her mother boarded up all the windows and she said it felt like a prison. My grandmother's father had died in March of that year 1912. From what I have seen and read about most everyone kept their families locked up tight at night. Interestingly enough is the dogs that were used to try and track the murderer tracked to the railroad tracks and lost the scent. Also there were other murders similar in nature to those in Villisca all occurring within a short distance of railroad tracks. It's quite an intriguing story.

Jack and Cindy, There is a book called "The Man From the Train" that a father and daughter team has put together trying to link the axe murders (including Villisca) to a serial killer. I just bought it, but have looked at some info on it and the info and research are interesting. The theory is intriguing as well. Just wanted to throw that out there! Keep up the AMAZING work! ❤

If Zak had nothing to do with Jack getting cancelled, Dakota getting cancelled, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Brothers and every Ghost show then why is Ghost Adventures the only show left filming new episodes?

Because like movies twist the Paranormal. Zac makes a show of it. And that is what networks want. Not for people to find the truth. But to scare people. Zac is theatrical and unfortunately that sells more than legitimate evidence.

Dakota has called out Zac and crew plenty of times. Zac helped get rid of most of the Ghost Hunting shows because his ratings were dropping. No one can be successful but his show. The network needs to get rid of him and bring the other shows back. Him and his "boys" are total jokes.

There's a few facts you may not have read. One of the tour guides of the home was adamant that there was no SA to the girls downstairs. Ina was moved and posed with her nightie lifted. A pair of underwear were under the bed. The kerosene lamp was on the floor. (Kelly was a known voyeur). The ax was against the wall and a slab of bacon was in the room. This is an important detail and I finally found something that made my mind up. The bacon was used as a tube. The tube was used by the perpetrator for reasons I don't care to describe. BUT... in my research, I found an article that quoted the guards that supervised Rev. Kelly in prison. He was charged for luring young girls through the mail. The guards stated that he hoarded food in his cell, but didn't use it to eat. Just unbelievably sick. I haven't decided whether he did the murders or entered the building because he was opportunistic. He may have been peeping. I'm going to keep going back to investigate until I am satisfied with the answers. It isn't really suited for new investigators and I wouldn't have anyone there that is mentally under stress. I have seen that place pick on a new investigator.

100%. That said, looking at Prism Paranormal's KZbin channel, they seem to get incredibly lucky with "child voice EVPs". Nearly every place they investigate, they have multiple extremely clear child voices on EVP. That's a bit unusual, no? It's never on video either. Not because they don't record video, they do. They just apparently never record video when the extremely clear ghost children are talking right next to the microphone. That second "EVP" sounds like they played the same mp3 file twice btw. The "Do it again Lena" has no variation. It's the same exact sound, same volume, same pitch, intonation, its the same recording played twice. What are the odds that they find children at every investigation? Also that all the "ghost children" they find at every investigation get right up to the microphone when they "speak"..

Also with children involved in this case, I feel very drawn to this case! Finding them justice stirs my ASD inside on a whole new level along with the unsuspecting parents. Being out at 10pm in this era, maybe they were seeing this man for existing paranormal activity, and no one wanted to talk about that. Maybe witchcraft was also suspected or something terrible like this. But unlikely with the blatantly obvious other murders that took place in other states and the "traveling" reverend possibpy being unvolved. But going to the location would definitely get some answers as a medium.

A deeply religious community wouldn't convict a man of the cloth especially after the judge threw out the confession. Also people need to stop putting such emphasis on the bacon. Back then there wasn't refrigeration so meats were smoked and cured. It was set out for morning. It had absolutely nothing religious about it

@@bobbi1972 it’s off old 14 about 3 miles before you actually get into what is now the town of waseca. It was just a rural farm. The waseca county historical society has information on it. The older kids were in town for a school event and came back to find their younger siblings and extended family murdered. The property was (and still is) adjacent to the train tracks. I’ve not been back in 20 years so I hope it hasn’t been turned into a housing development 😂 new construction hauntings out of waseca wouldn’t be that surprising as I swear that land is cursed. Nothing is ok there, the amount of haunted houses around Brown is terrifying just because of their proximity to each other.

I went there in like 2015/2016 once & the orbs, on the porch and in the yard, in our poloroids were crazy! It was cameras we used all the time and never seen anything like that before or after going there. My friends & I heard what sounded like the stove or some heavy furniture being moved near the stairs & we were the only people in there all on the first floor. It felt eerie in the house, especially in the kids' room, since there's axe marks by the baby crib. I'd like to go back & spend the night there to see if anything else happens.

Currently watching the Vilisca axe murders. First I was there 20 years ago. The mention of bacon is new to me. A thought the reverend was caught peeping before. And there was evidence someone hid in the attic. Could he have been hiding and saw the family killed? And guilt from that could have been reason for the false confession?

I was watching a program on unsolved old crimes, and they had a lot of info that were from the old police reports and stuff on this house. There was a very strange thing about the bacon. It was a slab, that was rolled into a tube, with the towel tied around it. It was found in front of the oldest girl, who was somewhere between 10 and 14. She was found with her nightdress up, and no underclothes. Sounds like something a creepy reverend would do. Also, remember. The reverend was a traveling reverend. It's entirely possible he was a serial killer. The news didn't always make it too far back then, and police didn't have computers to connect to crimes in other places, either.

For anyone confused by the language in "suffer the children" suffer is a word that means to "bear" or "to permit someone to do something. As like in "women's sufferage" and allowing women to vote. It doesn't necessarily mean pain, but can mean bearing the pain. If that makes sense.

I've always just assumed any evidence from Ghost Adventures is probably fake definitely if it's anything after the early seasons. Everything from the pre Zach possessions era has a chance of being legit compared to the post zach possessions era. I'm just skeptical of someone that gets possessed every time the camera turns on and went from not hearing spirits to being able to communicate with them and being more and more physic as his fame grew. I dk maybe I'm crazy on that. Also I think I've heard of Prison Paranormal are they the group made up of like Hollywood stuntmen, makeup and special effect artists? If so I think they are legit. I'm so thankful for KZbin and the people like you all putting out content like this. I can't imagine a world of watching re runs of ghost adventures all the time lol

Hi, I had heard or read somewhere that the family had been to a revival. It would last for hours. Back in the day , they used to cover mirrors in mourning (when wakes were in houses). But for the murderer to do that. What??

The puzzling part of this case to me is how one guy kills 8 people in the same house with no interference. Raising and dropping an axe several times on so many victims would no be a swift or silent act. Could there have been more than one killer, including the Reverend? Or could the Rev have been the recipient of a confession from the actual killer, and returned to cover the faces and mirrors? Such a sad but fascinating case.

@Jackosbourne you ever watch paranormal files? In that episode, the gentleman who does the tour of the house says the guy who stabbed himself was "provoking"...tell Cindy she nailed it! 🤘

My grandparents lived like they did back then. Even my grandmother smoked like a chimney. Plus the bacon was set out for morning. There wasn't refrigerateration so smoked cured meats were just left out. Plus they had to slice their own bacon

The axe murderer was in the attic did the killings and the Preacher was creeping and peeping after seeing the girls at the childrens meeting and finding out about the sleep over. He saw more than he bargained for. The axe murder hit the neck first to keep them from screaming and waking the others.

I think that's exactly what happened. The reverend had a history of peeping, not violence. I think after the murderer left, the rev went in and covered the faces. Then, put the bacon out to catch evil spirits. Covering faces of dead people is a religious tradition in some sects.

@@D25_Brane It sent the reverend over the edge watching it happen. He prayed for their souls and covered their faces after the fact which is why his wording in his confession was weird. It's also why he was acquitted. I mean he was still a perv but he didn't kill them.

Very interesting theory, but that's a WHOLE LOT of coincidence. If anything it would more likely too have been two people.

I have just finished reading Feind Recarnate. The book written by a man that studied all the trial evidence since the 50's. This town and it's dislike of one man let a killer go free. It was the Preecher 100%.

I kinda remember hearing something about the Father of the home had a business partner that was stealing money from said business. They think whoever did the murders, was waiting in the house for the family to return & waited for all to go to sleep.
