And as usual for action sequences, lucky is better than good. The fight scenes in the Reacher films can't hold a candle to the fight scenes in Atomic Blonde. They're not totally realistic either, but at least they don't rely on the idiocy of taking serious hits without consequences.

I enjoyed both of the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher films. But especially this one...(its also my favorite Reacher novel) I know a lot of people really dislike that 5'7" Tom Cruise played 6'5" Reacher. But, for the films, it works. Tom has the attitude, and because he's not the size of an industrial-sized air-conditioner, people underestimate his abilities. So they push back when they should walk away. And then they regret their decision.
@Chipchase7803 жыл бұрын
I suppose for people who haven’t read the books it’s ok entertainment, but having read them I fall into the category of being disappointed with this omission of a very important part of the characters appeal. His unignorable imposing stature. This is nothing to do with ‘underestimating Toms abilities’ . His ability as an actor, no matter how good, can’t make him 6’5”. Well I’m ‘pushing back’ and not regretting it at all, just looking forward to the next Jack Reacher book - and I’m looking forward to the proposed tv series - with Alan Ritchson a tad taller than Cruise at a more believable 6’2”.

Not really a fan of the movie or series overall but this is one of the best fight scenes put to film lol. I liked how the goons feel like fleshed out characters with so little screen time. The two guys at the start are big but can't land a swing and the third guy has the gun, car, and clothes of a cool tough guy but hides behind the big guys, fails at his one job, and gives up everything the second he's hurt. Reacher's experience and aggression saves him even though they have every possible advantage

For me, this scene is a lesson in cinema: pay attention to how many points of view, that is, how many cameras were positioned at different times to capture the angles, and of course how many times the same action was filmed from here or there. Then the impeccable editing to make us believe it and pay attention to the fight and not to percept these technical things. The choreography is awesome, a fight in which everything goes wrong, but it is still violent enough to make us laugh and at the same time tense up in our chairs.

That’s why even when a criminal has a gun and a barrier between them and a “ victim “ you still occasionally see the criminal disarmed. But you better have the skills! The ASP KZbin channel just reviewed film of a shotgun being stripped from an armed robber who was in the other side of the counter.

It's just not believable because Tom Cruise is a small guy and trying to fight like a big guy and it just doesn't work. Fighting styles need to fit the character's body type. a 5'7'', 150 pound dude is not going to be able to fight like Reacher. He's not going to be throwing guys around like rag dolls or hitting guys and sending them through walls and windows. Reacher is a brute-force fighter because his size allows him to be. It's the same thing with female fighters in movies. How many times have you seen a 5'6'' 110 pound female beat the shit out of some 6 foot 200 pound guy and you bought it?
