1:01:00: I'm Vietnamese Montagnard and was born towards the end of the war in Vietnam. My father helped out the SpecOp forces during this time. I ended up losing my family after our village got wiped out in the conflict, and was adopted, and am living now in New Zealand. I was cracking up when you were talking earlier about your childhood, 19:30: as this was practically exactly the same as my childhood at that age. I was heavily into recon work, and those early experiences really helped.

Watching these guys talk about growing up in the 80s was so awesome. I loved The Fall Guy and Airwolf, and I also played in the woods and had things like inert grenades when I was a kid. I remember working in a dead-end job when Operation Desert Shield and the following Desert Storm launched. I had just gotten into college and thought about dropping out and joining the military. It is one of the great regrets of my life that I did not.

I always love the movie and media references. I'm a 90's kid and grew up hybrid with outdoor play and video games. 80's kids were certainly the last generation that was 100% outdoor play. Need to revive that.

Between the 10 and 25 minutes mark I was laughing so hard because I did all that same stuff. I even had a battery powered minni gun. The barrels actually spun and made shooting sounds. I wanted to be sf but have a genetic heart condition that disqualified me before I even got started. So I paid for my training over a decade since the government wouldn't have me. Guess you could call me home guard. Anyway I enjoy listening to you fellas discuss things

My son has been training hard for 18X and his training buddy is going Option 40 in July. My former junior 18B and I have been training them to standard from our day, so they will be hard as woodpecker lips compared to their peers🇺🇸🤙🏼

Great podcast. I met Mike FTF at the Sig Sauer Camp Legion last year in August. So down to earth person who did so much in defense of our country. I was so impressed I gave him one of my challenge coins I had made up from my meager time in the Army. As for audio books. It's the only was I can do a book. If I try to physically read one, it would take for ever. I would read several pages, fall asleep, then wake up and do it again. It's just me and not the author or subject matter.

At the University of Montana they had a course called Soldiers Story Retold. It was a 3 hour a week talk with combat veterans. It ranged from WW2 vets to Desert Storm, even a German POW who was sent to Montana to be held. It was a great influence in my ideas of what a veteran is.

I was born in 1970. I love the flash back on the memories. I have a battery operated .30 cal on a bipod. I used to set it up in the ditch and defend my home with it! And I hadn't thought about Mack Bolan and the Phoenix Force books in years!

I agree with you guys talking about buying products in America. I also agree that I just like when people try to shame you for not buying American. Especially when most of the American companies get their parts from overseas. So basically, it is OK for them to keep their overhead in check. But when it comes to you saving money so that you can have a better budget to provide for you and your family. It’s not OK. I also try to make sure the things that I buy is American. but when you live on a budget. Sometimes things don’t work out that way. Both of you, keep up the good work. Keep putting out content that is healthy and entertaining for anyone at any age.

Great podcast and interview. Mike and yourself are great representatives of the afghanistan and gulf war generation of veterans. Guys like yourselves give me hope this country isnt lost. Im a marine corps 3 rd force recon marine from vietnam 67-69. Its amazing how professional and well equiped and armoured the current special forces military is. We had a big helmet we never wore a flak jacket that didnt work and at first an m14 and later anew m16 that at first sucked. No armour lol bare arms and chest with an open flak jacket and a jungle hat. They would drop 4 or 6 of us at a time who knows where and have us observeand trynot to engage. Then the weather would get socked innand wed be out there for two weeks trying to survive. Things have come a long way.
