Hi Shakes-P thank you for this review. Jackie is magnificent as usual. This whole concert is just beautiful. I have watched this video many times and it always leaves me breathless. But just for fun, if you watch the video carefully at one point the camera shows the choir behind her. Then it shows the orchestra. When they come back to Jackie you will notice if you are observant, that the choir disappears, only to reappear just seconds later. Just saying. LOL Please keep the Jackie Evancho reviews coming. I was there for THIS PBS filming too. 2nd greatest live music experience ever !!!. Gorgeous setting and GREAT PERFORMING. 2014. I WISH That every song from this live show was on YT, FOR ALL TO SEE, but they are still selling the DVD/ BLU RAY ! Her other dress worn, off white eith red, was fabulous.

Many composers have written their version of Ave Maria. This is Vladimir Vavilov's version. Schubert's Ave Maria is always thought to be hard to sing, but this version has to be much much harder, composed mostly of tonalities rather than words. This performance, the backdrop created at Longwood Gardens, the musicians, all present and accounted for SOLELY because Jackie is there. All this for a young kid! Pretty amazing doesn'tt begin to describe this entire CD.

@@monkeysquashface Yes, the Houston concert was age 10, staged at a church known for drawing major league acts for that annual fund drive concert. That particular performance was Jackie's first "test flight" as a true professional performer. While Jackie could not be technically classified a 'big act' at the time, she was possibly the biggest act ever to grace that church. I am still astounded each time I re-watch it because of the incredible crowd reaction. After a few numbers, even the chorus joined in the prolonged standing ovations that occurred after EACH song. Stupendous.

Its about this age the wheels came off and Jackie began a long struggle with Anorexia and other body image and emotional problems. If it can happen to a Jackie Evancho it can happen to anyone!

I am wont to suggest several other tracks Jackie has sung that will blow your mind: "Vocalise;" A cover of Within Temptation's "Memories;" "Attessa;" "Once Upon a Time in the West;" and her duet with Fernando Verela - "A Thousand Years."

You may recall that Once Upon a Time in the West is the title of the movie. The song is "Your Love", the soundtrack titled "Jill's Theme", sung without lyrics by Edda Dell'Orso.

This is an very old performance Jackie was only about 14 years old here she is now 23 and she does NOT sound like that now. any success she had spoiled her , sad !!!

You are known to be a Jackie hater, searching for any video of her you can find to leave your derogatory remarks. I'm certain you have never been to a concert to know what she sounds like now. "Spoiled" by success is the most ignorant statement one could make about Jackie.

​@@monkeysquashface What and how she sings is up to her. Her voice is still the best there is in Classical Crossover. Like many young adults, she is experimenting with different genres and messages that are tied to HER life's experiences. I expect to see her continue to evolve every couple of years. Not everyone might like it. Wilbur seems to not like it. Leave him behind. He's just butt-hurt she's not singing what he wants. Too bad for Wilbur. He needs to grow up.

Great selections on reactions for her during her youth. As of late, you may want to avoid her, "The Devil's in Mary Jane". It looks like it was recorded at a bar & perhaps after Jackie had one too many? Her vocals were very pitchy (quite unusual for her) & generally the whole song was awful. Not a do again & I can't believe it wasn't taken down?

That performance was part of a joint concert of songs by actor/singers from the off-Broadway musical, "Get Jack" performed at the Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Jackie, at age 19, was invited to sing "The Devil's in Mary Jane" about the lead character, Mary Jane, the most famous of the women murdered by Jack the Ripper. It was a chance to cut loose as a teenager, rocking to a song by the creator, Kip Winger, written for the musical....a one time performance 5 years ago, and not part of her concert repertoire or recording history as a classical crossover artist. It was a hit among the crowd who attended..

Not a fan of this version of, "Ave Maria", to me it pales in comparison to the Schubert version. But I do love Jackie, so it's always a treat to hear her sing.
