E-Bike Question of the day: What do you think of micro e-bikes like the JackRabbit? Let us know in the comments bewlow!
@jack_freeman2 жыл бұрын
This is a great bike! I live in Brooklyn and this thing is a life changer, especially in the 0.5-4mile commute range. Handles long sloping hills really well. Biggest downside here is that the roads aren't well maintained and while the Jackrabbit is safer than standing scooters, the lack of suspension makes cracks and potholes more of an issue than traditional bikes. Otherwise, the perfect last mile device 🙌

I live in BK as well and have been debating getting one. I don't like the idea of locking up outside and it feels like with the shoulder strap you could pop into a bodega to grab a sandwich carrying it like a duffel without pissing too many people off, thoughts?
@jack_freeman2 жыл бұрын
@@csadams404 I take it into grocery stores and pharmacies often with no problem. Rolling it around inside isn't too inconvenient, especially since it's so small. I live in a 3rd floor walk-up and can take it up and down easily without the strap.

Standing scooters are generally a better deal. For example the Apollo Air is also $999, and gets 30 miles range with the same 20mph top speeds. Packs up way smaller, and it's faster to do so. You can put most scooters under a desk, or in the bottom rack of a shopping cart.

@@nsblite1 It's unicycle though. You have to know how to ride those things and it's not a 2 wheeler at the very least which what we are discussing here and mainly what this channel is about (other than the occasional tricycle).

i think this bike is good for people who don't care about exercise and just need it for short trips... its the best bike when it comes to that imo
@ElectricBikeReport2 жыл бұрын
It for sure serves that purpose well

Can you remove the speed limiter ?

It’s fun looking, though I don’t totally get the price. It has less parts than a Lectric XP or a Ride1up Roadster but is priced similarly. I get it’s smaller and somewhat different but the cost would make it a competitor to those for most of my peers (age mid 20s). Curious what their costs are
@gordoeinstein2 жыл бұрын
The cost is mostly in the use of aluminum for the frame and the light weight battery…. Everything else is pretty standardized as far as materials go, even the throttle which can be found on other electric powered items like yard carts, etc. If this had gears and other pedal powered addons the price would likely be towards the 1500.00 mark or higher.

They might sell one if any. With e-bikes being sold at $800 these days, this probably is not worth any more than $599 and even at that would take some convincing. I personally love it, but I'm far from the average consumer/person.
@jmason612 жыл бұрын
Got it & I'm thinking about getting one anyway - mainly because it's super light & would be easy to put into my pickup & into the apt (I'm old) so even if going to $800 - $1k gets something bigger maybe that's more for a garage.... whatcha think I'm getting advice wherever I can

I agree señor
@Funcentric Жыл бұрын
@@JuCarlos-ex8ip Yeah, it would be cool if they can work on the pricing of these. Otherwise, there isn't really much of a market for it. I love stuff like this but the pricing currently just doesn't work at all.

A scooter you can sit on! Someone finally gets it! It's an eScooter but you can keep an extra battery in your backpack.
@Isaac-px4wy2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I missed it, but how do you charge the battery? Does it plug into a charging station like an electric drill? Or a wall plug of some sort.
@grantmaiorana9741 Жыл бұрын
Wall plug.
@jonneet21262 жыл бұрын
You mention that buyers can get an extra battery. What is involved in swapping the battery?
@ElectricBikeReport2 жыл бұрын
Just turn the key, lift the battery out of the frame, and insert the new one!

if it had ape hangers & a banana seat it would be cool

Two engineers walked into a bar... The first engineer said "these new ebikes sure are compact". The second engineer said "hold my beer"....

I heard complaints about the battery not lasting long enough a rider said that after 40 minutes of riding the battery 🔋 was dead
@jimmyjames87362 жыл бұрын
You guys do great reviews but your views are down because the last few bikes reviewed are oddballs with limited market appeal. I know that you guys frown on fast ebikes but a lot of people like them. I think you guys should loosen up and try testing some more powerful bikes. Check out some stuff from Ariel Rider, Onyx, Fabulous, Super 73, Eunorau, etc. Your current limitations on what you cover is kinda like a car magazine that is only willing to review average cars, vans, and pickups. Seems a shame to miss out on testing sports cars. Ferrari reviews are popular even though few people can afford one. Reviewing ebikes with a few extra watts available is more useful than Ferraris since they are relatively easy to afford. I hope this comes across as friendly constructive criticism. You guys do great work. I just think you guys need to expand your test eligibility horizons.

We appreciate the comment Jimmy! It's actually just a funny way the scheduling worked out with the types of bikes that arrived. Our next one up is from the brands you listed, and we've got a few more in the queue that are on the more powerful side. Stay tuned!

Consider this (potential) scene in a (hopefully never-gonna-happen) reboot of a certain timeless classic (I know - there exists the Y2K sequel).... Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a 36V 4.2Ah battery, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses." Jake: "Hit it."
@TwoWheelWarrior2 жыл бұрын
Without a pedal drive system it doesn't meet the definition of ebike where I live. It's not a legal kickscooter where I live since it has a seat the wheels are too big and goes faster than 25 kph. These things are developing faster than the law makers can keep up...
@gabrielbanna67252 жыл бұрын
Its a “class II” e-bike here in the states. Throttle only, no operable pedals, 20 mph.
@vigilant_19345 ай бұрын
It's not meant for the EU. It's fine for the US and Canada though with the laws already in place for these.
