Stranger in Moscow hidden symbols: Mj was literally hiding in Moscow during 1993 during the sexual abuse allegations. Jordan Chandler, the child who accused him was of Russian/Chinese/Caribbean descent. In the line “here abandoned in my fame, Armageddon of the brain”... that line made reference to mj’s growing depression and addiction to pain killers. No amount of celebrity could save him from that. The HIStory album is Michael’s most personal and raw album.

Long story short😥..This song was my comfort in my darkest and sadest times in my childhood. Every time i was gonna spend the weekend with my father, he just dropped me off at my grandparents to go out partying instead..everytime! I was 8 years old and always had the history album with me and this song stood out. (I cut my father off a long time ago but the pain and ptsd remains) I am now 35 and this song still makes me cry and i feel it deep in my heart. Jack why were there no reviewers like you back in 1995?! To their eternal shame, they were more interested in his nose, what he was wearing, or ‘Wacko Jacko’ distraction stories... they simply didn’t want to give him any credit. You’re right, this song is a haunting masterpiece. It follows Scream & They Don’t Care About Us on the HIStory album, and before it starts you can hear cleansing rain, washing away all the anger and bile of the opening tracks. The man was a genius. Thank you so much for this Jack, genuinely. #AmplifyMJ ❤️

I always felt like this video depicted his true spirit during those dark times. For someone who is so high spirited, high energy, a vibrant view on life full of color and wonderment. For him to create a very slow moving dark, cold, raining ethereal world. Just captures where his soul was. It breaks my heart man 😢 it really does. He deserved all the joys god wanted him to have on this earth. We treat our angels with such evil. I’m not surprised many of them are gone now and the world suffers in ruin without them 😢. It’s as if we brought it onto ourselves.

The lyrics of this song are also incredible too, like the part where he says "here abandoned in my fame" it creates a beautiful conflict because you'd think you can't possibly be abandoned when you're famous cause you're the center of attention but michael was famous to the point that all everyone even people close to him cared about was "michael jackson" the brand while the real human michael jackson was not cared about at all and was sort of abandoned also there's another interesting part where he says "take my name and just let me be" again pointing that(even to this day)he's seen as a brand(name) not a human being.also the whisper in the end is a man speaking in russian,the translation is "Why have you come, the enemy, from the West? Confess! To steal the great achievements of the people? The great accomplishments of the workers? Confess. Have you tried hard to bribe the people with the riches of the West?"]
@Phillyhippie215

The end with the Russian interpretation I think is far deeper than we realize. The Russians hated Mike in the 80s. They saw him as a shiny gimmicky puppet for the Americans to consume while our Government were doing atrocities across the globe. So to hear this, it’s as if he’s trying to say, “I am abandoned, spare me, I have no one else to turn too. I need your security.” Or even, just referencing how America has tarnished his name. That ending can have sooo many symbolisms. He found refuge in the arms of America’s enemies. It doesn’t get any more serious than that.

Jack, you picked up on something important when you said the melody wasnt necessarily sad. The refrain "How does it feel" gives the listener a false sense of hope and that the song might be going in another direction contrasting the verses; then the conclusion to the question is anything but hopeful, "When you're alone and you're cold inside". Such an emotionally intelligent song, pulling the rug from underneath the listener. He's referring to his depression, which he obviously suffered from especially at this time during and after the allegations, and alluded to in some interviews, but never spoke about about it explicitly. I think you're my favourite reactor/reviewer. You're very perceptive.

c d Well said!!!! I also feel he was trying to convey the same sense of refrain Bt in a different arroyo for the song “Is It Scary”. Which is ANOTHER underrated masterpiece!!! Michael’s just that fundamentally sound when it comes to how the expression of emotions should evoke the listener to grasp. And this bright young man is one of the few that caught on to MJ’s hidden depths of raw expression from the connotation!!!

You should react to his albums in order so you don't get lost in his catalogue • Off the Wall (1979) • Thriller (1982) • Bad (1987) • Dangerous (1991) • HIStory (1995) • Blood on the Dance Floor - History in the mix (1997) • Invincible (2001) You should also listen to some of the Jackson's tracks as he was the main vocalist and main co-writer • Destiny (1978) • Triumph (1980)
