Retro Robot Actualy, this genre is called "Cyberpunk" (It can be considered as a sub-genre of Retro Futurism). Retro futurism is less "noir" and less related to computer than Cyberpunk. Fallout and Fahrenheit 451 are goods exemple of retro futurism, while Perturbator, Blade Runner and Ghost In The Shell are example of cyberpunk. Those genres emerged from the 80s and they both took a grim vision of how technology would affect the future. They 're like the edgy kids of the Sci-fi family. And yes, both genre are amazing. ^^

So While he's interrogating Helena, his own thoughts and mind are there as well. He recognized something in Helena's mind and his own memories filled in the blank instead. Perhaps he really is going insane from all this detective work. He's trying to get to the bottom of it to the point that he'll go past protocol to figure out what happened and his own emotions have gotten the best of him here.

The feel of this game reminds me of this horror survival experience I did a few months back. It was based around MK Ultra and it took place years in the future where we (I) had to fight for my freedom through a torture game show... the made us chant "Freedom Is Slavery, The State Is Everything" over and over.
