I'm so glad they're going back to the supernatural and folklore stuff. Also, the bit with the curator turning into a bird. It could be that wasn't actually a pigeon, but a white crow. A white crow is considered to be a symbol of justice, whether you did good or bad. It's kinda like karma, the folklore surrounding the white crow dictates that it comes to you to tell you what comes around goes around. Very fitting for the Dark Pictures Anthology, since it's so heavy on the choices and outcomes of said choices.

am i the only one who wishes they would use the original version of the “Oh Death” intro song, the one in Until Dawn? it’s sung by a mournful female voice with a more folksy, country-esqe backing and arrangement. the harmonies, instrumental twangs, and the way she holds the notes give it the eeriness that i think feels so similar to the base feeling of uneasiness that you get with these more historically-based (or myth-based) supernatural tales. it invokes the truth and power of a spoken word tradition, passed down through generations in song and myth, both a story and a warning. like, as a character in the game and therefore a person experiencing a piece of that tradition, the haunting folk ballad sends a shiver that reminds you of the deep truth: that this tale or curse or sequence of events will exist not just in the present, but before and after you, outside of any amount of will or grit or intelligence you may muster. you can influence your personal survival, and may do so for some of your companions, but not much else. because these things were set in motion long before your consciousness was even thought to be formed. TLDR; the male rock version from the rest of the games does feel badass and totally rips, but it doesn’t give me the same vibe as the original, which seemed like it had a depth of history to it and created an authentic atmospheric tension.

Q half of my family getting really angry after about 20 minutes for thinking that he was lying to her and pretending to be a veteran when in fact he was a veterinarian.

“Semper Fi” actually means “always faithful”, but it’s alright. Also, yes Jack this is exactly what being in the Marine Corps is like at times.

Man, I'm super afraid to get into this one. I hate-hate-hate how the last two games did the "It's all in your head!" twist, and I'm genuinely afraid this one's going to do it too.

I didn't actually mind Little Hope's twists, but the "twist" and entire plot for Man of Medan could be figured out in the first 20 minutes. That one was disappointing.
@jarskil88623 жыл бұрын
Man of Medan did it well! And for Little Hope I always "cut away" final minutes of the game because the plottwist was game ruining. When ignoring the ending, Little hope is amazing.
@lancelotmowilos99013 жыл бұрын
I think the problems with the previous 2 games come down to the fact that the developers REALLY want to try and place a horror game in a world that is more bound by the laws of reality, and thus the "dangers" and monsters have been lack luster because they are grounded in real situations. I really hope they throw that almost... obsession with reality out the window, and go back to the fringe supernatural fantasy that made until dawn so freaking good. It would go a long way toward redeeming the series and making it worth playing. Edit: that being said, this is really cool so far and I am cautiously excited 😊

To be fair, the ending in “Little Hope” did make more sense in the long run than the Man of Medan, which I never finished by the way. I might, but man did Man of Medan have some BORING writing. At least Little Hope had some solid writing and buildup.

Nah little hope could’ve gone down the route of: “Field trip gone bad” Like how about the group gets trapped in the town of Salem and gets haunted by the souls of the girls that get burnt/accused of being a witch and have to find a way to escape the town instead of some schizophrenic memory lane guilt trip that we got.

I’m soooooo hyped that they’re finally bringing back the actual supernatural horror that made Until Dawn as amazing as it did. I watched people play through Little Hope and The Man of Medan and let me say with certainty: They SUUUUUUUUUCK. I know the studio must’ve been trying to go a new route, b it was just awful. Man of Medan’s big twist is just that everything was a hallucination of poisonous gas and the real villain was just some pirates (lame for a game that started off with melty kid faces). Little Hope was even worse. The whole idea of a supernatural little girl having something to do with the deaths of a group of people in 3 different periods of time was extremely eye catching, especially with the way that they all died in the same fashion as their past dopplegangers… and it all ended up being that it was a hallucination of one guy, which made me so frustrated because fake supernatural stuff was so unbelievably bad. Until Dawn was successful because of the supernatural element that made everything so shocking, and that’s why I can see House of Ashes being better than the last 2 installments… unless it turns out that the demons were all a dream due to Ashley Tisdale’s guilt about cheating on her husband. Let’s hope that’s not the case and we get some demons.

Honestly, I thought Little Hope was really good. At least a LOT better than Medan which was just a shit show from every aspect. The story, the twist, the animations, even the voice acting. Little hope UPPED it with not only better animations and VA's, but even celebrity cast, and they all killed it when they were all in the 1700-1800's. The twist sucked as they once again made it not so supernatural, but I at least liked it was a much more personal story about a man trying to cope with the death in his past, which is what the Dark Chronicles or whatever the name for the universe is called is all about. Hell, the *man of medan* is implied to be death himself, so the stories should center *around* death and dealing with it, which I think Little Hope did well. I just don't want to negate the developers upping their game like mad from Man of Medan to Little Hope, and now to this. I genuinely want to see what they can offer now!

I've always preferred psychological horror over supernatural stuff (unless it's Lovecraft or Poe or something, the classics are always good), so I loved Man of Medan and Little Hope. The Island of Dr. Moreau is a great example, although it isn't true horror, and I actually experienced primal fear while reading about this chase scene taking place on a dark beach at night (that says something since I'm usually impervious to scary stuff in books). There's just something about the way Wells wrote it, especially because it's a guy panicking in first person as an unseen bipedal _thing_ chases him through the night. SPOILER ALERT: I suppose Dr. Moreau, Jekyll & Hyde and all three Dark Anthology games could be classified as scientific horror.

Agree to disagree, the villain of man of Medan was the hidden chemical weapons that screwed with everryone’s heads and how they reacted to it. Little hope was a story of combatting grief and coming to terms with one’s past using coping devices and drawing parallels between that and condemning people to death ala witch trials and demons.
