What made that Just Dance collection funny was that in 2020 they got a Wii version after getting the Switch versions for previous years. I think Just Dance is one of the few games that was still being brought to the Wii.

Yeah, what platform they got the games for is really confusing. Maybe they were late to getting a Wii U, so they didn't get one for it until the 2016 one, or they got the wrong one because this person never got a Wii U and they got a game for the Wii again the following year. Upgrading to Switch in 2018 makes sense, but I can't get my head around the 2020 Wii one. They got it for Switch 2 years in a row so it probably wasn't a mistake like it could've been with the Wii U. Only reason I can think of is that they got it for "old time's sake", the 2020 Just Dance was the third last game ever to be published on Wii from what I can find, at least so far. Either that or they were out of Switch games and the Wii one had to do.

I figured it was either an accident from a well meaning parent/grandparent, a purposeful switch up for the family who were used to the Wii motes for playing together, or because it was one of the last games. I MAY be wrong but I believe it was one of the last Wii U games perhaps only followed by Shakedown Hawaii which is on a lot of platforms and a great Super Nintendo Style GTA game from Vblank who made Retro City Rampage. Seeing all those games makes me want to give one of them a change I've never played. I liked DDR and Guitar Hero and Rockband back in the day and also love rhythm games from Thumper to Frederick 1-3, Rhythm Heaven Series, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Crypt Of The Necrodancer, etc.

The joke on almost all of them was ragging on them for not spending enough time with their family that assumes that their nieces/nephews/children/etc are avoiding them because they're addicted hobbies, instead of the much likely reason that they find their family members passive aggression exhausting. Of course they don't want to hang out with you. Seems like you like to belittle their hobbies and trash talk them for having trouble socializing. As a kid who grew up with undiagnosed anxiety, it really salts my apples to see people being shitty to kids that they haven't even attempted to understand or accommodate.

My Christmas was filled with people just ignoring the useful clothing, gift cards, or university stuff I asked for and getting me spicy snacks instead. Because, I ate hot sauce when I was 8 years old, so I'm the hot sauce kid, even though I'm 30! They also continued the oh, g-d why is this a tradition massacre of getting me a useless iPhone gadget I never wanted nor have any use for. The first year, it was a Tile, the second year it was a double-ended iPhone charging chord for cars where the wire is surrounded by bungee chord rather than plastic, and this year it's a remote charging disc. To be fair, I very passive-aggressively gave gifts this year. My family, all independently, spent the year screaming at me about the fact I try to get them personalized gifts based on their personalities and wish lists, demanding just gift cards instead. One family member demanded "smoker stuff" and so I got him a bunch of those really tacky spice blends that are like "Johnny Calibre's Moose Nuke" and it's a spice mix with a cartoon moose in camo, holding a shotgun on the front, and he actually found them charming.

I feel bad for Anime mom and daughter not talking for 6 months and that shirt seems like an earnest attempt to show the mom trying to understand her daughter's interests. Even if the mom got the exact Anime on the shirt chances are it wouldn't fit or look right unless she was really tapped in to the point her daughter told her the exact size or brand. Maybe in 6 months she can return it after speaking again for the receipt and then in 6 months after that she can just cash it in to renew the Crunchyroll premium subscription.

As the person who got at shirt, I cut my mom off for a reason. I tried to have a conversation with her after recieving that gift and it ended up in another argument of her dismissing my trauma both from her and other people. I understand the respect she was trying however she continues to walk all over my boundaries and the only way to get her to back off was to block her and cut contact.

I've been given many shirts as gifts over the years from people with the best intentions but the wrong style. I think, outside of stylists or very close friends, it can be really difficult to clothes shop for most people in general. I'd rather give someone a gift card to a store they like although then it doesn't have as much meaning. Cash is the best gift card.
