Last week, I was able to see three of my favorite musicians - Val McCallum (guitar and vocals), Davey Faragher (bass and vocals) and Pete Thomas (drums) - pay their respects to David Bowie with this fantastic cover of Ashes To Ashes. When they are not touring with the likes of Jackson Browne or Elvis Costello, or fulfilling their roles as highly respected and much sought after session musicians, they relax, have fun, and come together as friends to perform as the band, Jackshit. Donning cowboys hats, and shirts, they assume the personas of Beau Shit, Shorty Shit and Pete Shit, respectively. Their shows are filled with equal doses of satire, naughty innuendo and the best damned music your ears are likely to hear anytime soon. Also, you never know who might just drop by to sit in for a song or two - Jackson Browne, Lucinda Williams, Albert Lee, Dave Alvin, Richard Thompson.... etc., etc. Truly, a show with Jackshit is much better experienced, than written about. Should you have the opportunity, I highly encourage you to see them live, or take one of their CDs for a spin. You'll not be sorry.
Thank you boys, for another GREAT night of fun.
For more information about the band, tour dates, or merchandise, please visit their website at www.jackshittheband.com
And to the viewers, I thank you for watching and invite you to subscribe to my channel here on KZbin - Libbysvideos. Hopefully, I will have the chance to post much more of this band's material soon - both covers and originals. And, of course, I will continue to post the work of the other extraordinary artists I am fortunate enough to see on a regular basis, as well.
Cheers!

This was ridiculous. The timing, the feel, the tightness, the singing, that delicious guitar solo. This was good shit. Ridiculously good shit.

There's video of them playing with Richard Thompson around 2012, just insanely good.

Davey Faragher is one of my favourite bass players. Also a fine vocalist, and producer. I love his work with John Hiatt. 🔷🔷🔷

I loved how he used his voice to simulate the trademark eerie keyboard beats in the beginning! This is a very ingenious and well-done cover of probably my favorite Bowie song ever. Especially with only a three piece for such a song that has so much going on sonically 🤙🏿

great stuff. If it weren't for Brie Howard Darling and a very long discussion about Night Line! where Davey Faragher plays bass on the Michael Jackson (not released for "Thriller") I never would've come across this video. Excellent!!!! and I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for this great band. Thanks Nellie's Videos!!!-- ps - Davey's bass is sooooo recognizable though I heard it first by recognizing the production by Quincy Jones.

You're welcome - and, it's Libbysvideos, not Nellie's Videos. :) Yes, Davey's bass is VERY recognizable. Jack Shit plays around L.A. several times a year when the band members are not busy touring the world and playing to larger audiences. As a matter of fact, Val just posted a photo of a crowd of 42,000 singing along with them!!!

I got to meet Val's father-and kissed him after a play ("The Mousetrap") in Atlanta in '76. I wonder What he thought of your group's name? Just curious. Val looks like him quit a bit. Liked the music too.
