Yan dominates all his fights, no need for fouls. Petr Yan: Fuck it, no mercy.
@alekseydrotenko32892 жыл бұрын
Yan grew up fighting bigger opponents and the guys he spars with are all weight classes above him. He is closest to a pure street fighter who faced everything and probably that is why his fighting style is so brutal. If you wanted to train troops how to take people out, you just have Yan train them with no holds barred.

Ground strikes to the body actually make a ton of sense now i think of it, especially when the opponent hips n knee are flexed from a stack cuz thats basically what doctors tell patients to do in the hospital to relax the abdominal muscles while they palpate their liver and other gut organs

@@mcpc9010 Petr almost stopped Aldo with that body shot from standing. On top of gravity coming down and this killer's fist, the grounded opponent's body has to absorb all that destruction, as the mat beneath holds no quarter, and turns it's cold shoulder to the agony from above.

My most important takeaway from this is how he stays just outside of striking range but within the "comfortzone" of his opponent, merely a short step away from striking range, therefore forcing his opponent either to back up or attack, anyway they're never comfortable and stress is one of the biggest factors to gassing out

One of the few MMA fighters who actually employs a super solid high gaurd. The dude is a rock because he actually makes an effort to not stand in the pocket and eat shots to the face. People can flail into his arms all day he's not getting tagged by a lucky stray shot.
@AveSicarius Жыл бұрын
I mean the reason most fighters don't rock the high guard like that is just that it makes it harder to get your hands down to check hooks or shoots. Yan is just really, really fucking good in the clinch, and is also a great wrestler, so he doesn't really care about that as much as he does absorbing strike's (because he's not as head movement reliant as some fighters) and keeping the opponent pressured even when he's playing it a bit more defensive. He's one of the few MMA fighters to do it because the few we see usually have a similar skillset to Yan. I don't think many fighters would use the high guard like Yan does if they had any notion their opponent could utilize clinch work or wrestling to any decent degree.

@FreefallSC2 жыл бұрын
@@frags6940 I feel like Yan should grapple to win this fight. I don’t see Sandhagen fading and then melting to his boxing pressure like all of his other opponents. Yan is probably capable of out wrestling Sandhagen to a decision, but that isn’t generally his game. Yan slips his head and dips it down a lot, and Sandhagen has a fantastic flying knee and great kicks that can really take advantage of the openings that are created in MMA with that boxing style head movement.
@ibraheemali70282 жыл бұрын
@@frags6940 tj was chinned by cejudo when he neaely died to make 125 , when he's in 135 he has a god-like chin, tanking clean right hands from garbrant and flying knees from sandhagen, we don't know if yan has the same chin tho since he hasn't been hit as clean in his career.

Sweeps require little commitment, but reaps (such as the Osoto Gari or major outer reap) require a TON of commitment, you can see him leaning forward with his whole body. If you don't hit an Osoto Gari with all you got then the opponent has a chance to counter with Osoto Gaeshi (spinning/reversing/counter Osoto Gari) which consists of an Osoto Gari or Osoto Otoshi of your own while the opponent is on one leg, making him fall backwards. (look that one up in the Kodokan's YT channel, cos it's a beautiful throw) I also noticed that he "wraps" or "hooks" his foot around his opponent's back when kicking the mid section just like Petrosyan does so the opponent doesn't use that dutch-style body kick block that consists of making the opponent turn way too much into his own body kick by catching and pushing the leg into the direction of the kick (Gabriel Varga did an awesome job of breaking Petrosyan's style in one of his videos). Sick video as always, I love your stuff J Slack. Your Filthy Casuals Guide might be the best technique breakdown series in of all or youtube. Keep it up man!
@BobSaint2 жыл бұрын
Sweeps do require much less physical commitment, but reading the opponent's moves and timing your execution takes a ton of randori. I guess it's a trade-off.
@CriticonDeSerie2 жыл бұрын
@@BobSaint yeah, but I'd say it is way harder to sweep cos it's all about technique. Kuzushi, Tsukuri and Kake have to be perfect to perform a sweep but with reaps, koshi-waza, etc you might be able to just overpower an opponent. At least that's how I feel as the "stronger guy". But I know people whose Tokui Waza is an Okuri Ashi Barai which is hard to get on someone who resists or at least harder than an O Soto where you can trick them with your O Goshi or Ippon Seoi Nage and viceversa. Reaps are easier, sweeps are cooler... WAAAAAAAY cooler

Sandhagen is one tall, lanky douche canoe. If Yan dips his head a single inch, Sandy's knee is gonna launch right up. I still think that the fight can be competitive, provided that Yan fights with his head up, keeps the fights at his boxing range, and peppers Sandhagen with multiple combos.

@@billy-lm4xg I don't think Yan is dumb enough to run into Sandhagen's knee though. At the same time, I feel like Yan has the chin to take a knee to the chin, although not at max speed. I'm honestly picking Yan to win by SD. He keeps his guard up high a lot, which he can use to take the sting off of knees and jabs with blocks. He can use that as a way to keep him safe while pressuring. Sandhagen is good with his boxing too, but I don't think he's as good holistically at boxing as Yan. I do see Sandhagen scoring with his jabs a lot, but I think Yan will be able to pressure and eventually land his hooks.
