I think him using dopplegangers on stage is also a direct reference to Doctor Doom, who frequently used "Doombots" (extremely convincing robot replicas of himself) to make appearances in places too risky for he himself to go. These bots would often get revealed or defeated to not actually be doom himself, but revealing this meant nothing because Doom was still at large. It only made him more of a villain and more intangible.

I loved "Operation Doomsday" as soon as it came out, and heard Doom was coming to a local club in Philly named "Fluid" to perform (1999, or 2000). He stood in the DJ booth, which over looked the club (We could all see him), and PERFORMED THE WHOLE ALBUM. That's not the wild part, after the show he's outside selling DOOM T-shirts, and KMD shirts and then gets into a squabble. Beats the dude down, and goes about his night. I'VE BEEN A FAN EVER SINCE.

I've been doing my own music for years, and MF Doom was a huge piece of setting me and my own music loose. When I tried to fit into what I thought I should be doing, writer's block was frequent and like moving through quicksand. When I let my personality, sense of humor, and spontaneity loose, the writing flew. That's all thanks to MF Doom who showed me that the best music ever is when the artist has fun. That is...whatever the hell "fun" means to them in their own individual context. Much love for him forever!

So no mention of kool keith who released Dr. Octagonecologyst as dr octagon in 1996, but had a single out as dr octagon in 1995, that had tracks that were instrumentals showcasing the dj cutting it up, and even released the album "first come, first served" as dr dooom in may 1999 as opposed to September of 99 when mf doom comes out. And no mention of dr doom's constant enemy ironman, which was the ghostface killa's cartoon alias, as wu tang members had both kung fu and cartoon aliases, and ghostface had his debut solo ironman, full of cartoon samples, burst on the scene in 1996. Not trying to diss mf doom but just saying i don't know that he's the puzzle piece you're missing, if you don't know kool keith or dr octagon, read up, listen up, before dan the automator helped damon albarn polish off his cartoon band gorillaz or find a more stable mc to storm the stage with in deltron 3030 he helped resurrect kool keith who had been rapping in the ultramagnetic mcs while wearing a cape back in 1988

@@t.j._edits9669 true indeed, and having ban a fan of dan the automator i was nervous that he was replaced by danger mouse but that certainly was unwarranted fear as demon days was fantastic, and he even produced damon albarn with his project the good the bad and the queen which was a decent enough album, but i think albarn dropoed him for the the next gorillaz and probably favorite gorillaz album plastic beach, even if there are some better songs on other albums, plastic beach just seems more organized and complete as a vision. And he did some good work with black keys, and produced on becks modern guilt, which wasn't too bad either

I paid to see MF Doom at a venue in San Diego that doesn’t exist anymore Canes Bar and Grill. The night of the performance he canceled an hour prior and said he wasn’t gonna be there LUCKYIAM-PSC of Living Legends was the opening act and was moved to headline. We were offered to get a refund, or go and watch Lucky. We saw Lucky and he took a little jab at Doom, I think it was deserved. I didn’t know the dupe of the live performance was a common trait back then.

When I heard doom passed, I decided to listen to him (I had never heard any of his songs before, or at least know I was listening to him.) He quickly became one of my favorites. As of 14 days ago, its been a year sense his passing. I love his style and just how he makes his music. Really sad that I didn't start listing to him earlier.

You could make the argument that they’re sub genres under the same hip hop umbrella. Similar to how metal and soft rock are both under the rock umbrella. Not saying Red Hot Chili Peppers are a hip hop group, but you could male the argument that they’ve made hip hop music.
@tyyer
@tyyer 4 жыл бұрын
@@ToeMoss0612 sure, genres commonly intersect. Some of their earlier music is referred to as rap rock, even though that has more in common with rock than hip-hop. But the point I'm making is the term "rap" isn't a genre at all. A lot of vocal jazz singers sing in a style known as "scat", but we don't call jazz "scat".
