Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department rescues multiple cats and dogs from a house fire

This video is not for everyone...some may find it disturbing
This certainly is not like most of our other videos...but is is real, and it is what we deal with in this job.
This residential structure fire came out to us, and initially we were sent to the wrong address...once that was corrected and crews arrived to this home, they were met with moderate smoke showing...the home owner was not home and the fire was called in by a neighbor.
The fire inside the home was quickly extinguished and only smoke remained in the home...so we thought! Crews still did a search for occupants of this structure to find multiple pets still inside as we entered.
In total, 14 cats and two dogs were pulled from the residence....as you can see in this video, crews worked hard to revive the cats that were struggling to breath with oxygen masks specifically for animals that we carry on our rigs.
We are happy to say that 10 cats and 2 dogs were successfully saved and sorry to say that four of the cats did not make it as they were over taken by the smoke.

To my knowledge, it’s not your responsibility to have done this. But you did and it’s pretty moving to watch. Way back when we had a dryer fire, (not caused by lint or myself), and our two cats survived, but barely. One because of peeps like you guys.
