Kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages? (A time or two) But it's all so good To let up Dead weight (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Got everything I need (haha, yeah) Clothes on my back The wind on my teeth What I control is in me There's more wood to burn Oh, what the hell can I do? To fill the pages? (The pages) Meet the strangers? (The strangers) Kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages? (A ride or two) But I fall so good When I go, hey Dead weight (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah Dead weight (I'm falling around and around) (dead weight) Dead weight, yeah

I don't comment often, but I wanted to say this: I feel like Jack's songs sometimes take multiple listens before they start to "settle in." I didn't actually like this song the first time I heard it, but the more and more I listen to it, the more and more I like it. (I almost start to crave his music after a while, if that makes any sense.) Jack really knows how to slowly work his way under your skin, which is part of why he's becoming one of my all-time favorite musicians.

I used to live in an apartment building when I was very very little with only two places of residence, my downstairs neighbor (the other resident) had a big bushy beard, and was very skinny. He was someone I only saw occasionally and I’ve only gone into his house once or twice (that I can recall). I think he was a stoner looking back on it and it was almost as if he had been stuck in the 90’s, as he had all the technology and general aesthetic of that period. This song along with a couple other songs by Jack give me the same exact feeling I got when I interacted with him. I’ve only been watching jack stauber for a week, and I haven’t thought about that neighbor for at least a decade. Come to think of it I don’t even remember his name. Thank you, Jack.

Karen, Bill Wurtz is Jack Stauber’s twin brother. Despite being practically the same, they have been rivals since birth and taken their music in radically different directions, to try and win the favour of their mother, Lady Dianna. This is an apparent truth to give context to all of Jack and Bill’s works. And if you look carefully, and squint your third eye to the maxim, you can see that Bill Wurtz is actually just Jack Stauber spelled backwards.

This song so so good I can't even explain it. Within Jack Stauber's music, he uses a lot of metaphors and symbolism to represent his point however in 'Dead Weight' he breaks this very well as the song sounds so self-explanatory, so raw. "oh what the hell can I do" is like a brick to a window. It's such a powerful line as it perfectly creates the theme of the song, it hints at a form of endless hopelessness, a sense of given despair. It's just so incredibly human. Later in the song Jack uses the line "But I fall so good" and it wraps up this idea the feeling is only worsening but it's admitting that and becoming that which makes this song one of Jack's best. In a sense you can feel his 'dead weight'

This song weirdly feels like anemoiac nostalgia. It makes me feel numb and makes me feel fuzzy, but not in the warm way. It's like I'm at a half-way point between existence and disappearing completely. It's a mix between weightlessness and feeling heavier than lead. Sort of bobbing about in the middle of waves, getting pushed up, yet pushed down. It reminds me of days when you go for a drive in the rain with nobody there. It's just you alone, but you don't feel lonely. You can't even focus on it. There is just an innate feeling of calm, solitude and solemness. It's like I should be crying, but I don't know what for. Maybe for a forgotten memory, or a memory that I never had. I just automatically disassociate. Time is passing, yet it is so still. Like I care to do things, like I need to do something, but I also don't. I just lay there thinking about something, while my head is empty of everything but fuzz. I guess it's one bit of calm away from wanting to cry and worrying about what I will do.

I feel like the message from this song is to let go of your emotions and memories that don’t matter. Like your ex or something they will only slow you down and dead weight literally means heavy and unnecessary luggage. Bad memories are dead weight, so continue to love your life only thinking of the future . So that way you can “ fill the pages”

a clear reference about a anxiety feeling... the social pressure, the "oh shit im old" feeling, i gonna die and i didn't do nothing, jeez the time keeps runing. The dead weight is that state when you can't move, that shaky, talkative and restless character in his chest is the anxiety. At least that's my interpretation, raw and direct shows us the inner world of Jack and anyone who also feels that way.

It's like he's implanted us fake memories by using those familiar elements that we correlate to things we used to know. So here we have that sweet faux nostalgic/sadness, something we think we know just beacuase it results familiar to our brains. I don't know, this effect seems to happen quite often these days... We're all living difficult times, and we just want that security back. That's why we're craving this kind of content, it's a way to trick our minds I guess.

I think this song is about, not wanting to just “be normal”, but also to want that “dead weight”, that impediment. It’s like someone who’s “weird to society” but likes how they are. They refuse to change but still wants to “Fill the pages, meet the strangers.” They think how other people might think about them, but also how they think about themselves. (But that just a theory, a Jack Stauber’s KZbin Comment Section theory.)

JACK STAUBER made the song Dead Weight, never intending for it to be Public! When he was just a young boy his dad was an impatient beast, and he would always sing "Dad, wait!", well he knew it was a chart topping hit so he decided he had to make it a real song! He's actually super insecure about his dad so he changed the words to "Dead Weight" and that's how we got the song we got today!!! Just like how his song "Buttercup" was about his little sister who was also impatient! He was insecure about her so he changed the name. Jack had these songs made way before he became famous, anything is possible if you believe! :3
