When you break a diet, never get in that mindset of “now I have to start over.” Think about it like this- when you go on a road trip and you miss a turn, do you drive allll the way back home and start over? No! You keep going because it’s a JOURNEY. You’ve got this, we all know you do.

Just remember when you restrict you will binge later. You don’t need to restrict completely your fave foods. Rice, beans, salsa all are healthy options, even a sandwich and bread is okay to have you just try to make better choices and also see how you feel when your eating certain things. If your happy eating pasta and feel good then girl eat the pasta lol dress it up and find healthy ways to eat your faves :) God bless girl!! I say this out of nothing by kindness and respect, but I sincerely think you need to speak to a dietician or nutritionist. When you've had an unhealthy relationship with food for so long it is extremely difficult to break patterns and habits on your own without the help of professionals. You have the means and resources to hire someone who can help you make better food and lifestyle choices that I really think would benefit you and anyone watching who struggles similarly to you. Its a shame to watch someone struggle needlessly when help is available. I wish you nothing but the best on your health journey!

I think if you stopped thinking of the “cheating” mindset it may help you. Like no food is morally bad. Don’t punish yourself for eating anything. If you want this to be long term, you can’t completely restrict yourself. When you eat something that doesn’t have nutritional value tell yourself “I’m eating this for my soul. I will enjoy it thoroughly. After this I’m going to nourish my body”

What are you talking about- of COURSE there are foods that are morally bad. They're just not "morally bad" in the sense that you're talking about, i.e unhealthy. Destroying the planet to indulge in your meat-eating habit is MOST DEFINITELY morally wrong.

Not a professional but I feel like labeling food “bad” and “good” and using terms like “cheat day” is counterproductive. I feel like working with a dietician would be really beneficial. The more people restrict, the more they will binge. Eat a normal, healthy, sustainable meal that you love and you won’t have the incessant need to have “cheat days”. This is not to drag on Jaclyn at all, I wish her all the best in her journey, but she still seems to be really struggling with the best way to do this and I would hate for her to develop more bad habits out of a bad “diet.” The more you obsess about your cheat day, the more you’re saying that the daily food you eat isn’t happy or enjoyable. Eating healthy shouldn’t be depressing, it should be sustainable. It includes having treats when you feel like it, but in moderation. And that’s the main thing I saw here, absolutely no moderation. Moderation in everything, seriously.

@UCYKk0D0Df2c0Y-pNNC_LfAg the comment isnt saying she should be perfect and sustainable right away (its actually the opposite), so this has nothing to do with her “just starting.” This is a perfect method for people starting out. Its not good to go from eating whatever you want to having no carbs for a week and thats why shes struggling so much. If she allows herself a few comfort foods, but less than she used to have, this is still progress and she wont go insane. The last week’s video shows how much happier she was allowing herself to eat an ezekiel english muffin with an egg, sausage and cheese. It made her mood go up for the rest of the day and she even said it made her wanna eat “bad food” less. That one “not super healthy” meal set her up to eat better and overall her day is healthier than when she used to eat quesadillas for lunch and pasta/mac n cheese for dinner. Its all about progress rather than perfection and it would be a lot easier on her mental health

That's what my dietitian told me! Just keep walking into the wind, it doesn't matter if you take 7 steps back for every 8 steps you move forwards, the net result still means you are further along. A lot of people seem to get demotivated by 'I could have been so much further if I hadn't taken all those steps back.' But it's about consistent progress, there's no time limit to a diet after all. Another one she told me was 'run in place for a minute, then realize you could do that 60x in an hour, that ordeal would then fit 24x in a day, and all that fits into a month 30x, which you also get 12x of a year. This demonstrates just how much time there is in a year. So even if you make small progress every day, it adds up.'

It’s so hard when you label stuff as “good” and “bad” cutting out food groups like carbs intermittently. You don’t have to cut out all these foods you label as bad. I feel like it would be much more sustainable if you just did a small calorie deficit (no more than 500 cals. So if your TDEE is 2500 you would eat 2000 calories) a calorie deficit is how we lose weight wether it’s tracked, wether you’re aware you’re doing it or not. That way you can still have foods that you are labelling as “bad” but in moderation within your calories. I lost over 100lbs doing this and now I maintain it. It’s totally possible and much easier you don’t get those massive cravings or need “cheat” all the time. You can prioritise healthy choices and whole foods but still have the stuff you love . It doesn’t have to feel that hard. I do love that you’re being real about all of it and how difficult it has been for you 🙌🏻

Just something I noticed on film: Jordan has some really good ideas, I feel like you might have a hard time letting go of control and letting someone else take the reigns. He seems to have your best interests at heart, why not make more attempts to try what he says? Also- sometimes our friends don’t really have our best interests at heart. There’s a whole community out there that talks about toxic friends who sabotage dieting and exercise, it comes from a place of jealousy. I know my input wasn’t asked for, but I wanna see you succeed!

I agree with this and these past 2 videos are also frustrating for me. I’m also in the process of losing weight and changing my diet. She complains that she’s not eating good at all but then continues to do it and says it’s worth it and it gives off vibes that she’s not 100% doing this for herself or doesn’t completely want the change. I love jaclyn but I think she may be better off making this a private goal for herself and keeping the positive mindset that she’s has in some parts of the video. You can’t complain about something if you aren’t giving it 100%

You took the words out of my mouth. When your friends don’t support you on a journey, but in fact sabotage it, you need new friends. Saw a nutritionist once telling she doesn't restrict any of her patients from eating anything at all. What she does is make a deal: you need to eat the same amount of unhealthy and healthy food in a meal and start with the healthy one. So if you want a burger you need to eat the equivalent (same size portion or same weight) of salad or vegetables first. Her patients usually loose a lot of weight and said most of the time that can't finish the unhealthy meal because they're full of the health stuff and end up naturally skipping or downsizing their junk food consumption.
@calebamore3 жыл бұрын
Just remember when you restrict too muh you will binge later. Remember your doing this not to lose weight but to feel better so focus on that!

Best piece of advice I received when I was on my weight loss journey, in regards to when you’re cheating. It might be worth it and make you happy in the moment, but will it be worth it and make you happy in the future. As happy as I am diving in my cheat treats, it almost always end up in derailing myself entirely every single time and for how shitty I feel shortly after, it’s never worth it. If you’re gonna divulge, you need to do small amounts and in moderation. I also think you need to see a nutritionist if you’re not already. I know it’s only been a couple weeks but you shouldn’t have to struggle this bad.
