What’s good Charlie! Anoushka Shankar is indeed the daughter of the great Ravi Shankar.

if I'm not mistaken, this is the most universally appreciated tracks of the album according to Jacob's Discord server

Glad that’s the case. This is my personal favorite on the album. Fusion done so well, and my god that drop towards the end makes me feel like I’m levitating

I feel like this song is one of those perfect examples of Jacob creating what he describes as a "world." This song (the sound components) all live within a sound sphere (or world) that he created. And after many rounds of exploring that world after he created it, he went with more of a "less-is-more" approach in a way that is rather uncharacteristic of Jacob. I love this song. It's definitely a hidden gem on the album.

My man, the very fact that your question is specifically if it's a tanpura or sitar (it is the latter, and Anoushka Shankar is indeed the great Ravi Shankar's daughter) and then you claim almost apologetically that you know nothing about or aren't well-versed in Indian instruments, is a mark of your admirable humility.. You're obviously very knowledgeable in world instruments, good sir! It's such a welcome change to see your reaction after a slew of 'reactors' trashing on the track and the album, and who keep calling it Arabic / Iraqi / 'desert video game' music, making me cringe in second hand embarrassment. I also noticed you listened with rapt attention till the very last second of the track with those ember sounds dying out, when you could have stopped it like any other reactor would have several moments prior once the exciting parts of the song were done. That is true respect for the artist and his creation right there 🙏 This point forth, I'll be looking forward to each of your reviews, and I'll know I can trust them.. You've earned a fan and a subscriber 👍

Wow! I'm truly touched my your comment, brother. Thank you so much for your appreciation and kind words 🙏🏼. Yes, I don't know what is with so many people hating on him at the moment. Maybe they think it's makes them seem edgy and different to not like something so demonstrably impressive. I guess it's an inevitable consequence of becoming big and being widely acclaimed. Insecure people who want to seem different will hate 🤷🏻♂️

Loved your reaction. Unless you already know, there is a collab with Aurora: A Rock Somewhere x The Seed (Greenpeace). Highly recommended.

It’s a Sitar…. Also the little vocal in the mid part of the song is actually the Karnatik music that is so part of very popular south Indian music jelly very well with the tunes of the Sitar that is traditionally an accompaniment for the North Indian hindustani style of music.

Not only is Anoushka the daughter of Ravi Shankar, she’s the half sister to Norah Jones… Ravi was a bit cheeky when he was in America in the 60’s

Agreed. This and Bridge are the two best individual cuts. The only one I think is fairly ordinary Mi Corazon and even that has a decent groove, albeit too commercial.
