14:31 is perhaps the most telling part of Jacob Collier. He dips down and plays a note with his nose because he ran out of fingers. And for those of us watching, we expect that to be a little joke hes throwing in there to be funny and we expect some kind of smirk or acknowledgement of that fact from him afterwards. But there's no reaction to it on his part because he wasn't doing it for comedic effect. He just knew he wanted that note in there and knew he was out of fingers. So the nose was just this natural reaction from there to get the sounds he had in his head out into the world.

NHaezer in jazz many would say that it sound weird or bad. In reality he’s improvising on a high level, using complex chord voicings and tritone substitutions. To make something sound “good” you can play something “bad” before the “good” chord to emphasize the feeling if resolution. 14 year old danish kid out.

@@toshirobozdogan2207 I think you might be mistaken with what the comment was originally. Birder was saying that he often got the song with 1 second remaining out of his 10 seconds. I was looking for this comment because I wanted to add that this goes to show how amazing his mind is. His brain is 2 steps ahead of his body, already sending the signals to his arms and hands to get ready for the gloves part of the sentence before he's even finished processing the cognitive thought and then catches up with himself and says "such as gloves! there you go" lol

Watching Jacob Collier videos, it's so nice how people just let him riff and keep going. Like he's making gold, who's going to tell him to stop. It's not even ego. It feels like he wouldn't even push back if you asked him to cut. He doesn't strike me as the kind of person who brings up that he has 4 Grammy's. But, it's obvious when he's just playing that he deeply loves music in a way that challenges your notion of deep. One of my favorite things about the modern world is that people like him can thrive and make music. Imagine if someone shamed little 5 year old Jacob Collier, making up melodies for the times tables? The world would be a poorer place.
@jesusgst2 жыл бұрын
"It's not even ego." A lot of people don't seem to understand this. Some people think he's just bragging about his talent with his perfect pitch or really fast riffs, but that's just Jacob's self. That's his essence. He doesn't play piano or guitar, he plays Jacob.

@tryinganna98833 жыл бұрын
It takes time to learn it but he’s just arranging his own rough tune for the song, it’s easily doable for any competent pianist who understands music key and then the ways notes and chords harmonise and boom improvise, it helps if you’ve taken time to actually understand how the chords sound and what notes with what inversions or chord extensions for instance the C7 C7 dominant that messes around with flat 5ths and 7ths then obviously the minor 7ths with flat 3rd and 6ths and 7ths If you want to add any melodic improv, minor keys are more common Because you can jump into the relative major and jump back into the minor plus the harmonic minor and melodic minor addition notes for extra yummy yummy ear food for instance play something in A minor you can easily improv by using the root to set a minor feel then you can jump into the c major by taking advantage of the 3rd and 5th which is c and e if we then play g or even jump to the unison c it will jump to a major happier sound but if we rescale back down and jump onto the G# to the E then play C then G# down an octave then to the starting A it will harmoniously transition into the minor key again and using the sharp 7th to drop into the minor it was a common technique within baroque minuets Bach does it a lot listen to his minuet in G minor or even minuet in G the second part drops into Bb minor in parts which is typical of a traditional two types of minuet
