Durer was a master among masters. Its no wonder why modern art came into todays time,they could never compete with the masters.

I was thinking something similar. The Art today is a Lot about effect in my opinion. And i Like it. But this paintings from Dürer probably needed much more time and concentration then the nowadays paintings... Probably the biggest difference is that we life nowadays in digital time and this sucks our Energy and stimulates different areas of our creativity

Beautiful talk showing the details as only a printmaker can, but I heard recently that Durer had people cutting his woodblocks, after he drew the detailed imagery.. so now I wonder if he did all of his own engraving. Is there much information on this?

I heard the same thing as well.. though its actually never been proven really. Its thought that the skill was beyond his own capabilities, but its also noted that his apprenticeship with Wolgemut would had made it possible for him to understand the technique. Either way, its still evident that he did make the designs himself.
