He still gained points on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place in the AOY points. This was still not Wheelers finest hour. No one is perfect in this world. Wheeler is very competitive, and he is just trying to win. He was just trying to protect his fish for the next round. He still should have let Matt go on and fish.

I have fished a lot of years and I'm just learning that if a pro or a local tournament fisherman has a spot on the lake it's theirs for eternity and no one else can fish it if the pro or tournament fisherman is on the lake and wants to fish there. Baloney it's first come first fish. I will not cut you and you should not cut me. All this bullshit and drama just solidifies my decision to stop tournament fishing 22 years ago and just enjoy Gods' creation and hunt for big bass, then release them where caught. That being said, if you roll up on me and you are in a tournament, the ball is in your court. If you act like an entitled asshole who thinks he owns every spot on the water, I will not yield... If you treat me with respect and demonstrate sportsmanship and etiquette, your chances just increased on me yielding to you. In other words: Don't be an asshole.

In the mid 80’s, I had a guide with clients, brazenly pull up on me on Lake Fork telling me I was in his spot. It was about to get ugly when he finally decided to go elsewhere. Public water is “first come, first serve”. The old unwritten rule regarding distance to another boat used to be, never get so close that casts can overlap. Courtesy is gone today. I’ve actually had boats go between me and the bank I’m fishing.

Randy I don't think it was determined that weekend anglers generally think they simply "shouldn't move for Tournament anglers". I've seen more people say consistently just be considerate, ask, and communicate. Not just roll in blasting hot on a guys spot he's fishing. Nobody on the lake is high and mighty over another. Period. But it seems that's the aspect long forgotten. People generally just really need to check themselves and their manners. You want to see a guy who conducts themselves properly, look no further than Cooper Galant. There's an angler that has his head on right, always respectful and courteous. There's many more too!

Randy, come on, man. Wheeler was a good 120-180 yards away when he pulled in. Also, you either purposefully left out details or just don't know what happened. JW found that spot in practice, and on day one was BEHIND Becker on that stretch. Becker caught ZERO fish and moved out. JW pulls in and catches 12-15 scorable fish. Becker knew where Wheeler was when he was getting updated on the scoretracker. He saw him catch those fish. When you said he pulled up right on Becker, I laughed. How do you defend Zaldain and lay 100% blame on JW? I guess you approve of Becker catching the same bed fish over and over at Cayuga last year, which pulled him into the top 10 and ultimately beating JW out of AOY by the skin of his teeth. I guess you would be okay losing AOY in that fashion.

You hit a sore spot Randy and I am not going to agree with you on this one. "Nobody calls dibs on the tour guide." The Journey To The Center Of The Earth movie nails the phrase here. Calling dibs on a spot is a really, really bad idea. I don't know who came up with the idea that they own part of the water because they caught fish there before but that is just beyond juvenile. I would never think I owned a spot if I caught fish on it and it shouldn't be an unwritten rule either. If somebody is fishing a spot, it is their spot no matter who shows up to fish it later. If they don't want to move, they don't have to. If they want to spend their day fishing one little area, that is their choice, so move on. If I were a tournament director, that would be something I would make clear from day one and if anyone complained they can fish another trail. I don't want to hear about this any more please. It is childish to think a person gets to call a spot their own. "If you snooze, you lose" comes to mind also.

Wheeler is a Boyd Duckett puppet..straight up…and to your point on local anglers fishing waters when there is a tournament going on…local anglers aka weekend warriors are just as entitled to fish any water as pros are…the pros attitude and how he pulls up on a spot determines if I’m going to leave that spot and let them fish it. If they pull up on a spot I’m fishing and start cussing and getting pissed because a weekend warrior is fishing their so called spot, then forgot it..I ain’t moving..now if they pull up with some common courtesy and go about the deal politely then I will gladly move and give them the spot…first impressions go along ways…I don’t care if that pro is fishing for 80k, 100k, or 20k…

I've had a few pros tell me I needed to leave a cove I was fishing in. Simply advised them we can fish it together or you can find another location. But 90% of the time they roll past they don't wanna lose time.

All garbage. My spot, My fish, Spot sitting. Best fix for the Pro tour. One day tournament, no practice and fish during the week.

Randy - I have a different POV on this one. I ride in the boats with the MLF BPT guys. First point is the most MLF anglers out each day is 40 so on these 50,000+ acre lakes you rarely see another boat. In the 5% of time you see one - the pros are very considerate. Jacob is highly respected by his peers on this and any of the ethical areas. As the number 1 pro in the world for the last 5+ years, Jacob does get more road noise. But if you talk to any of the MLF pros - nothing but respect.

Enjoy your channel.. I fish this very river right there at the chick. hell, was there fishing the practice weekend last weekend.. Most of these dudes were professional and courteous , some inconsiderate asses. But i will say if im hammering them on a spot and some "pro" thinks he has a right to where I'm at, he can go get screwed. I'll make his fishing a living hell.Yes, im that petty, If he's polite and lays out his case, we can fish....I dont even pull this with weekend guys like me.....tight lines.... oh btw some of you bass rod boat guys...Watch your damn wake...

This stuff is why I won’t watch tournament fishing anymore. I used to worship Biffle, Brauer, and other guys, nowadays I don’t give a rats ass about any of these professional fisherman. I just like going out trying to catch a fish or two, enjoy nature, and living my best life. I enjoy watching KZbin fishing videos not tournament fishing shows.

I would NOT interfere with a pro. With enough tournaments under my belt I know what he needs. But, the pro should be courteous because some fishermen have no idea when they might effect a pros plan ! On my lake most guys let the pros make their living ,which is a very hard and stressful job.

I’m not telling anyone what to do. If I know a tourney is going on then I can absolutely go somewhere else. If I’m already fishing, I’m not cutting anyone off and I don’t expect it to happen to me no matter what. I’m not going to hog a spot if I’m not making anything happen either. Whoever was there first gets the spot. It’s expected that if another wants to fish it, they ask and talk it over. Does this always happen? No. I’ve seen plenty of fires up fishermen not want to give up a spot when they don’t have it at the moment. People have just got to remember to keep their cool and just be respectful. A few fish really isn’t worth burning bridges. Maybe a tourney win is, but thats all in the eye of the beholder. Not for me.

I feel that it's common courtesy no one is a mind reader and common courtesy and sportsmanship and Etiquette should always prevail just my opinion for someone to act like a dick just shows poor sportsmanship and that's when the bass gods give that bad sport a wake up call and they miss the top 10 by a very small amount just saying

The last couple of weeks have shown us the true colors of these so-called "professionals". They are just a bunch of entitled whiny babies. I have lost all respect for the "sport" of tournament fishing.

Wheeler was there because he’s never going to be fined or DQ’d. That’s Boyd’s boy! That was a pure dick move and one that would get someone a beat down back at the ramp. But he’s the protected golden boy so he does what he wants. Pure dick move!

I can see pulling up behind someone then the guy turns around and comes your direction. Says I’m fishing this entire area, then what? I had a guy troll within 20 feet of me while I was casting. Fishermen are all assholes and only think of themselves.

I think your wrong on this, wheeler actually watched Becker the day before catch 0 fish on this spot where he caught a boat load, then he played a little defense and guarded the same spot so Becker didn’t screw up his best shot at winning! Also Becker was pretty much poaching so to speak!

A recreational fisherman doesn't give up a spot to a pro, not because they "can't stand, pro's as RB insists on telling us. Rather it is common curtesy, that who ever is there first has the right of way. Not sure why RB insists that recreational anglers are bad guys. Seems self serving to me.

Stop the crying. Wheeler had fished that spot all day before. You would think Wheeler robbed a bank. This guy is the best there is in bass fishing right now and these guys can't handle it.

Its just common courtesy and etiquette to just ask. Best plan I've found is just let it go, however I don't fish tournaments or anything.

I think if the pro has a 100.000$ on the line let him win his money. But here it is I am going to say this. I got a picture I wish I could share. FFS. will show fish and evey one want to catch fish now that’s all I am saying. You can take that or leave it.

Anybody that doesn’t understand why it would be courteous let a pro fish a certain area has obviously never participated in any kind of competitive sport and you also lack the ability to put yourself in their shoes. They’re on that lake once a year at most. Get over yourself this is literally their job. Let em fish then they’re outta there.

I kayak fish and I don't think anybody owns a spot. I am however courteous and let bank fishers fish the main spots they can access if someone is there. If not I cast around there. Now if money is on the line then all bets are off. Oh well. 😂
