Actually, it wasn't. If you are referring to man's purpose for marriage, I see your point. But God INTENDED marriage to be an equal partnership, one in which the two parties compliment and serve one another harmoniously and in rhythm. The "business transaction" you speak of was never God's doing. Many of our natural understandings are not God's doing, but man's way to rationalize the unknown and exercise authority and control over a narrative that never belonged to him.
