Anthony, being a customer figure maker himself, has a uniquely keen eye for color. Not saying that all of yours aren’t fine and he happened to get a one off issue. But it’s more likely that you don’t see the nuance difference like he does. Which is a good thing, technically.

Thats a shame. My Dee Jay does not have the color inconsistency yours does thank God. I do agree that he couldve been a lil darker though. Indents where the pec meets the butterfly joints are weird yes. I think overall he's pretty damn good. Keep collecting brother!

A cool 1/12 tee-shirt will cover up the discoloration in the chest and sternum will make the esthetic better. In fact, I have a cool black Superman T-shirt waiting for him 😉😃

The lighter skin tone is a pretty good match for the SF4 version of Dee Jay so I'm fine with it as a general representation of the character, even if my personal preference is also a darker tone. I just think it contrasts better against the bright orange. But as far as both skin tone and eye colour goes, I would expect any questionable colour choices to be at the behest of Capcom's licensing department, it would not be the first time they are weirdly adamant on certain kinds of details whether it's accurate to the source material or not.

@@Jiggeh Kind of how they keep making inconsistently Ken a blue eyed blonde post-SFIV, when he's always been a brown-eyed unnatural blonde canonically. Or Bison being black or brown haired. There's a lot of that in Street Fighter. Ryu...his hair went through several different colors.lol

This is weird, mine doesnt have any issues with color consistency. Might be a quality issue. Regardless, kinda sad you got your DeeJay like that :( Looking forward for you Guile review, Anthony! Great job as always!

to be honest guile and dj should have gotten their own body, they were always clearly lankier characters than ryu and ken. reusing the stocky shoto body for them is a bit lame even coming from small family mom n pop jada toys.

No "real shame" here. He just got fig with paint issue. Should contact to Jada CS, but he choose to cry about it. Size are more than OK. Compared to the others, he is taller and slightly shorter than Guile. Look at the game and then on the toy, he is perfectly matched with other figures.

It's unfortunate how this guy turned out. Though the mismatched torso colors is apparently a QC issue, it still shouldn't happen. And yeah, those headsculpts don't quite match how he usually looks. Also, why are dark skinned characters always made lighter? Is dark brown plastic against the rules or something? It always happens to Storm.

I think you might have got a bad qc. Looking at the chest piece in multiple lightings on mine and it looks the same. Maybe call Jada (# on the box) they have great cs and could send another. The dreads are interchangeable. It’s just a plug in system for the dreads.

Not exactly shocked...why is it so hard for some of these companies to get black characters right in toys, comics or cartoons? Either they exaggerate their features (overly large lips like Balrog from the animated movie, terrible reproductions of black hairstyles) or they completely whitewash them (see how Storm often looks like a light skin black woman, or this Dee Jay character's skin, etc.).

Im a huge fan of what Jada is doing, they deserve the praise they get, however... I have noticed that collecting community often gets overzealous in those praises. Like, its ok to point out the flaws of these figures, they arent absolute perfection. Honestly, from what the Storm Arena figures are looking to do, might end up making these obsolete in comparison tbh. With that being said, Ive noticed Marvel Legends-like loyalty from the collecting community in regards to crapping on the Storm figures even though they are objectively aesthetically superior.

People are just way too fanatical these days, there’s no more nuance. They make these brands a part of their identity, so if you “attack” the brand (aka offering valid criticism lol), then they take it as a personal attack on themselves My favorite line is Mafex and I own pretty much every comic figure they’ve made, but I recognized that a lot of those figures do have certain issues and are very flawed. But if I were to say that on a place like the Mafex subreddit I would be downvoted to oblivion and have people throwing fits lol

I'd like to get the Storm versions (esp. because of the Alpha/Zero aesthetic) but their track record is poor when it comes to actually completing a line...ugh.

@@id0licious Completing a line has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of figures. Also, while that particular critique is generally true for Storm, they have proven that they can be consistent with a roster with The King of Fighters figures. That line was the least likely that I would have expected to be completing its roster and they are absolutely knocking it out of the park. Have faith. We give a lot of these brands a lot less flak for much worse. No line is perfect.

I don’t have the Dee Jay figure, but wow… it’s really disappointing to see the upper chest not matching with the rest of the skin tone. Speaking of tone, even the modern Dee Jay is much darker than this. Hopefully there will be a running change like they’re doing for some of the previous releases. Dee Jay deserves the Maximum-level of care and that didn’t happen. In fact, it lowers my expectations for Boxer.

I've never seen anyone else with the discolouration on the torso before. Hopefully if you get another one, it'll be a bit better. You definitely have bad luck in terms of QC issues.

Dee Jay is one of my least favorite characters in SF. If I had to pick his best look, I would go with the image you put up. His mismatch chest is pretty bad. I think I'll have to buy a shirt for him.

I agree on the skintone, wish it were a shade or two darker. I'm not sure if the chest paint is different from figure to figure, but I checked mine and it's actually not as bad as how it looks in the video. It actually matches to the abdomen portion exactly and might be off a tiny bit to the arms. But the only part that seems like it's off is the butterfly joints but not detrimental. Overall the paint works across the entire upper torso. The knees weren't too bad of a difference.

That torso color is too bad to ignore it actually ruins what could be a decent figure. I’ve noticed Jada has struggled with head sculpts but forgive them for the body and quality but this one doesn’t carry the weight. They are using a really bad paint or something it feels cheap and looks cheap.
