Jade Switch Review

These took a while to get used to typing with lol.
I feel like my sonnet sounds hollower or more resonant than usual. Ended up not being the best board for the sound test, but hopefully it gives an idea of how it sounds. Also one of the sound tests is mislabeled in the video :(
Sonnet Config
Top mount, alu weight, alu bottom, no foam, CF plate
There is a hint of a metallic sound, but not as much as I would have thought. Might need to do another sound test with another board or another plate. I think I'll start posting sound tests as shorts, so maybe I'll do more sound tests with the Jades.

So unique and crisp sound with your arc60. Definitely will buy and try with cycle7 and tokyo60, interesting to see sound differences for mounting types

Just put these in my Cupid 65 build and the keyboard is near silent except for the clack of the metal it sounds incredibly unique

I find these really intriguing. Both for the semi-silent aspect and the metal inserts - I'm looking for some sharper more metallic sound. However, people in the SwitchModders Discord are not happy with these. Multiple people have mentioned quality issues like up to 10% of switches not properly bottoming out. To quote rcradiator: > like 80% of them feel awful straight out the bag/box, and need to be worked in a bit to feel like an actual linear > and 5-10% of them just straight up pole bind > [the UPE stems] are really soft > to the point that the first time you press down on a factory assembled one, it feels like the metal insert is getting pushed into the stem a bit > if I had to make a guess, the reason some of these end up pole binding is that the stem tolerances aren't terrific, and when the metal inserts get shoved a bit further into the stem pole, it widens the stem pole a bit

My batch was fresh and I didn’t see these issues in mine. I was on like a 1 week preorder basically and vendor shipped them once they got them. I had all of mine split between my arc and sonnet and never noticed anything so I guess I got lucky. That sucks about the qc issues tho.

Thanks for the review! that is a very interesting combo, agreed that they sound quite clean especially in the Arc60. I’m curious if they’d sound less resonant in a Sonnet with a non-Alu weight, not sure I’ve heard an aluminum weight vs. say a copper weight Sonnet side by side.

Yea. I don’t remember if thats just how the top mount is with a cf plate or if I tightened the case screws too much.

​@@arpeykeysits okay buddy you can always clean it off and repaint it if it doesnt go away but you should probably use spray paint so there's no texture difference
