Fight On 'SC! :) Synth bass is a totally under-appreciated art. Way too many bass guitarists half-ass it by thinking they can get the sound from pedal effects, and way too many keyboardists don't understand how to use nuances like legato style and glissandos.

I'm a bass player and I can get that sound! It's called finger tone! Then couple of pedals compression and all that good stuff then, Walla there it is.

That's a trick question :-) one person may consider someone else better than that other person. For me if it sounds good and you like it then roll with it. Because what I like may not be what you like? One would think that everybody loves pizza when in fact some people may not like pizza or could be allergic to it. I'm sure you get my point😎🤔

In your opinion, is the Moog Sub 37 capable of creating just as good or very similar bass sounds in comparison to the Moog Voyager? I'm purchasing one or the other soon just for bass.
@ronnieaux5290
@ronnieaux5290 6 жыл бұрын
The Sub37 has a darker sound than the Voyager. Consequently, it also goes deeper, so you'll get MUCH more sub in your bass sounds. They are very different in many ways. I think the Voyager has a silkier sound to it, where the Sub is usually much grittier (since the oscillators are based on a combination of the Voyager and Taurus), but I've gotten very smooth tones out of it too. If you happen to appreciate the really silky, bright tones you hear, you'd probably prefer the Voyager's character. If you tend to appreciate that subwoofer-pumping, deep tone, you'll prefer the Sub-37.

If you really want to play... learn your chords and scales. Synthesis is important too for a nice rich sound. Get your self a decent synth. He is playing a $2500 Moog which sounds nice always but all can not afford that tag. The video is worth a rent if you want some insight on his approach.
@stevebennett2447
@stevebennett2447 3 жыл бұрын
The synth game has definitely changed on that part, a lot of beautiful sounding affordable analog monosynths around now. But yeah, in terms of sounding nice 'always'; a $10 Casio in the pocket is better than the most expensive moog all over the place! Remember that, kids!

This sort of over analytical approach is exactly what is not welcome. If you want a technical class go to CCRMA, IRCAM or Plymouth or Miami and talk to the professors who invented CSOUND, MAX-MSP, Chuck and RackFX. Jae is a musician first and even an idiot can see with the available amount of information that has been disseminated over the years that its an analog synth with low pass and a VCA. so what?? You begin to think like "I saw in this video this guy uses a low pass over VCA and that what he [told] us". So "Imma head out to my synth and wound the knobs like him to simulate the filter [magic]". LOL. Bruh, musicianship does not come for free, get your own synth and get another teacher if you think you can find bass synth musicians like in every coffee shop you hangout in...... get real and be a bit more humble. I got chops too, so what??

@@elissitdesign About the bs, I guess it’s also I would do better than you as much as my own musicianship is better than yours. Your limited understanding of what LP filters do for tone and why every synth or even your guitar tone filter does for the final tone texturing and sound design exposes your own smugness and stupidity that only an ass like you can demonstrate. I bet you 1000 dollars you don’t know any thing about music engineering and am also pretty sure you don’t play jazz standards even on yo best day.
