yea bro it took me awhile to figure this out specially because i thought i wanted to be "original" but all i wanted to do is express myself making those kind of beats and i think the whole stigma of being original stops people from analyzing stuff like this because they feel its copying

can't speak for anyone else but making trap beats its alot easier to write the rhythms at those tempos as far the sequencer in fl studio

no. i cant stand trap drums i make them groovy like in d angelo voodoo, fantastic vol 1 and 2 etc :D

To start the tempo of your beat was actually 70bpm! Not 140! 140 bpm would be very fast. Around the tempo of some house, bmore club, soca, calypso, passa passa, and jungle music. Before anyone attempts to say I’m incorrect, I went to school for this! Produced songs for major artists. So I am sure I know what I am saying is correct. It irks me to the upmost when I see/hear people say a trap beat is at a tempo above 100 bpm. I understand why you set your bpm like that. Just saying when teaching others you want to be exact in your information.
@DJChrisArgueta9 ай бұрын
Yeah that beat is around 70 bpm, not 140
@JaeFreshmen9 ай бұрын
you know the crazy part is i actually explain that but took that part out of the video lol because i thought it may confuse people that don't read music , thats why to make it easier i also mention the clap and snare lands on the 2 and 4 , so no matter what they still be counting in the right way but yea bro many trap producer write melodies more so drum patterns at higher tempos because it just alot easier to write it out in that drum sequencer coming from using a daw specifically fl studio
@JaeFreshmen9 ай бұрын
@@DJChrisArgueta yes bro thats right but this beat was made at 140 because i come from fl where most trap producer play in higher tempos because it was easier to write it in that drum sequencer but now playing on the mpc you can play at 70bpm but its just a habit bro
@DJXcalibur9 ай бұрын
@@JaeFreshmen try setting it to the actual tempo. You will see you get much better outcomes. It will make some things flow better as well. When your tempo is misinterpreted some things won’t respond properly when using certain effects. For instance, you add another sample that’s 140 bpm to realize it is pulling a Grimes on you🫣😂😂
@DJXcalibur9 ай бұрын
@@JaeFreshmen also I used FL studio since edition one. You needed to set your tempo in the program just the same as all others. Many just opened the program and began building a beat without thought to tempo. They laid kick drums along the grid at every other bar instead of each one to adjust for the higher tempo. It’s sort of wrong, but still worked as it is still at a trap tempo with the stretched out drum pattern. If I didn’t go to school for this I would’ve probably done the same. So no shot at you. Just passing knowledge in hopes it helps you in the future. Just try to always make your beats at the proper tempo. As a DJ/Turntablist is pisses me off when I have to waste time resetting the tempo during mixing. I don’t use sync or anything. It just throws off my echo. So even when I’m in DJ mode that proper tempo is crucial!
