Thank you Sevrin - fantastic question and this is actually the case with many chronograph owners - they miss seeing a large second hand for the time. It is a misconception that if you leave the chronograph running 24/7 you will damage the moment. However - it will put more wear on the movement and this will increase your service intervals. To put it simply: your watch will require a service sooner if you leave the chronograph running. I personally do not activate the chronograph unless I'm timing something - I do prefer a large second hand but will live with the sub dial on my JLC - it's all preference mate.

+Jack C just received my watch! Love it. Looks like the identical model. Mine is a 2006. I'm sure this won't leave my wrist for a while. Cheers

this is truly one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen, might have to save up for one. Do you think these will get more expensive in the future? Thanks for the great review.
@Vicandiers4 жыл бұрын
I just read your replies on other people comments and apparently they already have gone up in value. don't know if that's good or bad news, as I'm not going to be able to buy one just yet.
@Jack_Cage4 жыл бұрын
Victor Andries yes they have indeed gone up in price and will continue to do so. It’s the original Master Compressor and the original model for any line is traditionally the most coveted in the future. I wish you the best of luck.

Great review! I was thinking of swapping out my Breguet Transatlantique Type XX.
@Jack_Cage8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That is a lovely watch. I considered a Type XX however decided on the JLC due to this one being unique as the original Master Compressor that paved the way for all subsequent models/versions. It has a lot of wrist presence and is a very decent and efficient chronograph. If recommend trying on first before swapping for the Breguet as the very large and very prominent compressor keys are not for everyone. All the best.

Hi, excellent review, and love this watch, are you able to leave the chronograph hand in motion all the time if you wanted it as a seconds hand, or would this damage the movement?

See comment above.

I do like this watch but have seen the limited edition Valentino Rossi edition and like that too. It’s number 2 of 746 and I am very tempted, what do you suggest

Great review, I have been looking on Chrono24 for one with box and papers, I have check the current website seems they aren't making the watch any more. So what do you think a very good condition watch with box & papers should be selling at? Also do you MM of the lug for the wrist band. Personally I would change the band to a Rubber OEM Jaeger LeCoultre Band. For I travel and hate to leave my watch anywhere. Safest place is always the wrist in my opinion. Again great review and thanks and your opinion of current market price would be appreciated .

The prices for this model has risen as I predicted. For an excellent condition example with box and papers you’re looking as £4.5 - £5K, I actually bought a JLC rubber strap for mine and loved! Not cheap but well worth it! I truly loved this Chronograph and it’s definitely a purist’s choice. Ultimately you’ve got to love it and I’d recommend it without hesitation 👍🏻

@@Jack_Cage Thank you great opinion I can't stop looking at the watch in picture and yes, I agree I would go for the JLC rubber band too

Thanks for the awesome vid. I've been offered a master compressor geographic at a bargain price but am a bit hesitant. To be honest, I'd have jumped at it if it were a chronograph, however don't really know about the geographic. What's your take on that model?
@uyi2g4eva9 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you could have talked a little about the dial. I am confused by the dial at 3 O' clock. Is it a date? Where's the minute totaliser? if the dial at 9 O' Clock is the hour totaliser? Are the minute and hour totaliser "Jumping"?
@Jack_Cage9 жыл бұрын
The 3 o'clock counter is the minute totaliser - it completes two cycles of 30 minutes which in turn marks off an hour on the 9 o'clock hour counter. Yes - the hands do jump. My apologies for missing this explanation - I forget that most chronographs have three counters and not two.

Hi there, great video...... did you hold on to it and how has it been in the last few years?

Hello, I’m afraid I didn’t hang onto this one regrettably. I loved wearing it and still maintain it’s one of the best chronographs out there for the money. The movement is way, way ahead of its time. I recommend it without question.
