Correction: AIM-54 is 17g, not 16. I'm not rerendering the video for that so every time I say 16g imagine it's 17. A few of the people that proofwatched the video told me that the reduced smoke motor for the phoenix would also have reduced thrust. I still think gaijin could still add it as an option. The reason I havent uploaded in 3 months is because I've been working full time, and because my videos take so long to make there just aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with both things as much as I'd like to (and I make about 50 cents per hour or less on youtube for reference). I had been trying to make the ARH video for months, but between gaijin changing them and gaijin breaking my tools I've had a very hard time making that video, and I want it to be good. It's still one of my top priorities. So with that in mind we're very solidly on the "videos happen when they happen" schedule. I really want to finish Jets 101 sometime this fall but I have no clue if that's a realistic goal. Sorry for rambling and sorry for not being able to deliver what I want to deliver

The Sedjil and Fakour have the same motor as the MIM-23B I-Hawk missile which mind you is not a mach 5 missile and even Mach 4 is pushing it. The G tolerance of 20 is also questionable unless that is the claimed dual axis G pull. Fakour-90 also uses the AIM-54B seeker and electronics so there’s that.

The sedjeel has been successfuly used IRL against contemporary aircrafts like the Super Etendard ans has been in service since the late 80s. 2. It's a game, if you put a weapon system to be used, it has to be useful. What would be the point of giving a unique missiles that has to be ressearched AFTER the R-27R just to be completely useless. 3. Do you think they just decided to give better fins for no reason just cuz they wanted to? Players bug reported it, they used documents and specs about the HAWK missiles that the sedjeel is based from.

If you see a Flanker or even a Fullback with an R-27, 98% of the time it's gonna be an EA. The 27ER has pretty much been retired simply because it's old and obsolete. I wouldn't be surprised if Russia sold their old R-27's to country's like North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan to fund their war.

Definitely agree that the Phoenix should be given a little more love in terms of its maneuverability. After watching some videos online featuring what it can do during test firings and training shots, it definitely should be able more maneuverable compared to what it is now

Yeah the problem with the Phoenix is Gaijin is basing its max G load off what it could pull with one set of fins. IRL the Phoenix would roll to 45 degrees from the direction it wanted to turn and use both sets of fins to turn

Also the reduced smoke motor would be a big help, the fantasy version they have in game is pretty stupid and seems to be a game of balancing radar missiles to the level of eastern missiles and making them all have smoke for better gameplay. The AMRAAMs being the silliest example I think.

Another problem with the aim-54A and C not listed in the video is their absolutely pathetic lofting profile especially in comparison with the revised lofting profiles of the fox-3’s that were added after the Phoenix but fixed before the Phoenix.

I mean, if Gaijin wanted to give the Phoenix a side-grade option, they could have two separate models of the C. One with the Mk.47 Rocketdyne motor, and the other with the Mk.60 Aerojet motor. The Mk.60 would have less burn time but more thrust. But range was always supposed to be the Phoenix's main selling point. Not agility. The main issue I have with Phoenix's performance is that the loft profile is kinda fucked. Phoenix should not be practically dead on energy with a mere 80km (~50 mi) shot when launched from high altitude considering the missile has a max IRL range of ~200km (~120 mi). The loft profile is mainly to blame for this lack of end-game energy and range. Fix that and the missile is great even without multi-plane maneuvering modeled.

@@mikeyplayzwrld I've dodged 3 aim120s in a row by just notching and flying cold, yet I still got blasted by a fakour 90 while notching, chaffing, multipathing, and flying cold all at the same time. After the buff to it's maneuverability, that thing is by far the best Fox-3 missile in the game. They're faster, have a bigger explosion radius that can catch you while you're 100 meters above ground, and turn better than the second fastest Fox-3 missile in the game. Close range performance doesn't matter when you have 4 missiles that can knock someone out of the sky before the match even starts, and still have r27s as backup.

Frankly I thought the tradeoff for the Fakour was the fact it couldn't pull as much. But now it's just straight up better in every way. I gave it a go yesterday with the Sedjeel's and definitely found a lot more success with both as long as I took reasonable shots. I took about a 26km shot with the Sedjeel on a guy I saw contrailing and they went evasive and even got into a notch but my radar never broke lock and the missile hit. It was definitely having to maneuver a lot.

Another potential "fix" to the AIM-54C would be gaijin unfucking its guidance code. Atm, the 54C has the exact same guidance code as the 54A, while IRL the 54C has a completely new and vastly more advanced guidance section that was specifically made to allow it to follow more complex and optimized trajectories (better loft and energy management in-game), mostly to improve its pK% vs small and maneuvrable targets. This wouldnt make it get to a target faster, but it would allow it to have more energy WHEN it gets to the target, making it significantly more dangerous. The kick in the dick about the Fakour-90 is that not only does it have a much better rocket motor, and better maneuverability, it ALSO got much better guidance code compared to the AIM-54C, cuz fuck TT F-14 players I guess...

Hey Jaek_! Love your vids. Can you maybe do a comparison video between the PL-5EII and the PL-8? Specifically measure the acceleration and initialization time of each off the rail? It seems that while the PL-5EII is flare resistant, It takes half a second for it to track off the rail, and it seems to accelerate super slow in comparison to all the other missiles. In comparison, I was wondering if the trade-off for the PL-8 being faster in contrast to double the weight is worth it (IRCCM notwithstanding in the discussion).

I am gonna be honest: I have a massive skill issue with the F-14 Iriaf. Barely get kills with it, even with the fakours, I guess I am just launching at the wrong targets. However, even with my massive skill issue, I can say that the only thing holding this plane back from being 100% broken instead of just 90%, is the RWR and relatively low countermeasures. This thing is otherwise just criminal, especially now that the Sedjeel is no longer a gimmick and actually is scary.

Fly level until you reach at least mach .8 then enter a ~30 degree climb up to about 4-5k meters. Switch to TWS HDN, 93km range, with the narrower search pattern. Find a group of 3 or 4 people flying at more or less the same altitude and launch at 40-45km on all targets, making sure to keep at least one of them tracked with TWS while diving down and cranking. Once you see that the target indicator on the radar scope switches to a solid line, instead of a line and a circle, then that means the missile(s) have gone active and are guiding with their own radar. At that point you can stop tracking the targets with TWS and enter a notch to defend against enemy missiles. The narrower TWS search pattern gives you more frequent updates and lets the missile guide more precisely and launching at 40-45km gives the missiles a good amount of energy to hit maneuvering targets. By firing at enemies that are at more or less the same altitude as each other, you can keep all of them locked with TWS at the same time and effectively guide all your missiles until they go active. Its very important that you provide the missiles with tracking from your TWS otherwise they'll just fly off in a general direction and may not actually lock anything at all.

i think it would be best to give it its R73s, remove the R27R1 since irl it never worked with the tomcat´s radar, buff the Sedjill (not really, just detail more its seeker, cus irl it could never have been an 7F/M copy or similar, since iran never received its AIM7F and its AIM9Ls because of political reasons, just give it DL (if it had irl) and its okay, i think they added a HMD later, but i suppose it would have been just for the R73s since i find difficult for iran to make russian equipamment work with american Radar set. yes it would be a late variant of the Persian Cat, but still, the Fakour 90 is a missile that only the F14s iran is using today are equipped with, the F14 Early that is shown ingame should have AIM54As only, since the Fakour 90 is only equipped on later variants that iranian sources say that are completely different planes from what they once was. (without any proof off course) but still, if all this were to be added, it would be 13.0 material, even with only 60 CMs edit: fuck it, you could put it on 13.3 and the Fakour spam would still kill a lot of guys.

@@jaek_898 I've never had issues like this before, it never used to get confused by chaff while in a head on engagement, now it does. just happened to me twice in a row. meanwhile, my chaff does nothing even from rear aspect, I've got to WT notch everything, which isn't how you really notch. in WT, you gotta present the largest profile possible, angle your top towards the radar locking you. it'll break lock beyond 5 km within seconds. which is wild, it shouldn't be like that, it should really be the opposite, but that's how it works in this game.

A skillless player can still use the long range of AIM54/Fakour to get kills even in 13.7. He can just fire and RTB without any cost

The IRIAF F14 should go at least at 13.0. The Fakours are just outclasssing everything at the moment. Like why is this the same Br as the normal F14, which has way weaker missiles. And i didn't even mentioned the IRIAF has access to R27Rs.

@@reinni2968 The Fakour and Sedjil are faster than every other missile in the game. And the R27 has Datalink so can fly without a radar lock. The Aim 7F/M explodes after like 1 second without excellent lock

@@Geevexs 1. Yes, r27 can fly using datalink got 60 seconds...which is completely umneccesary considering you have low range. Ah, I see you obviously havent used any sparrows not even once, sparrows can also go without lock for a bit - its called iog, inertial guidance. Similar to 9m system of how it relies on inertial guidance when it sees flares. I have lost lock on radar but missile has still tracked and killed many times.

Sincerely I stopped playing top tier because there are so many Fakours hitting you and only appearing in RWR when they are on top of you, even if you're just a a couple meters above the multipathing height to avoid an obstacle, that it stopped being fun having a bunch of the team, me included dying before we even got to see an enemy anything to shoot.

The radar seeker on the Aim54 and Fakour is not very good. Simply notching and chaffing is almost always enough to fool the seeker and if that isn't enough then you can notch, chaff, and multipath at the same time and that will 100% defeat the missile. Going cold is also effective since the aim54 seeker is very bad in rear aspect.

Unless you have a VERY good reason to be up high I'm at a loss to understand why you'd be encoutering that much. Unless you're launching fakours yourself you should be down low and terrain masking until mid map. Popping up to fox 3 (if you have them) at mid range targets that are too stupid to dive then looking for the merge and targets of opportunity. Fakours don't "come out of nowhere" they're actually ludicrously predictable and announce themselves via lock unless you miss that event due to being already locked up and not finding cover. When you're lack of thought and tactics are involved there's no one to blame but yourself.
