Great Video! I just pickup a Girsan MC P35 OPS to hold me over till my dealer calls me telling me that my Springfield SA35 is IN! I am a BIG 1911 fan and since I think we are at the beginning of a Hi Power P35 renaissance since we have better models being made from more companies that come already tuned and customized to reduce stuff like Hammer bite and better tuned triggers right out the box. My grandfather taught me how to shoot a pistols with his old Mid-1960s Colt Gold Cup and a Browning Hi Power that was from the late-50s. My Grandfather was a US Army Infantry Officer and Combat Veteran of WWII, Korea and early Vietnam. He was also the coach of his Command Shooting team. Now days I carry daily a 1911, P220 45acp or 10mm and P226 357SIG.

@@EB-vs9tr Thank you! Back when I was a poor college student I carried either a Ruger KP90 45acp or a 1993 Gen 1 Taurus PT92 Decocker model 9mm back when Taurus was making a better 92 model than Beretta was. This was the time when Beretta M9 pistols were cracking Slides and having issues with barrels also wearing out rifling from shooting Plus P and Plus P Plus ammo that Military Units like the Navy Seals and Army Rangers and Green Berets used in their pistol.

Good presentation. Minor correction @2:06: With the slide off a Hi-Power, the hammer won't fall when you pull the trigger not because of the magazine safety but because there is no connection in the frame between the trigger and the sear. IOW, even if the magazine safety was removed, the trigger would still not drop the hammer with the slide off.
@bunkstagner298 Жыл бұрын
thank you for your work. My pistol in one of the Argentine made imports, has had the magazine safety removed, and has as an option the "detective" shortened slide and barrel. The difference is about like a Government model 1911 and a Colt Commander. Great fun to shoot..

I had just purchased one of these GEMS this week and I haven't touched it yet. I was intimidated by the take down system so THANK YOU for the great vide Sir and your knowledge of these works of fine Art. I'm sure going to enjoy mine the serial # gives it a year of 1977 I was 10yrs old and let us not forget the movie SERPICO.

Really dug that little filip at the end with the hand off from the safety to the slide stop - learned something new. I've an FM95 and while it's not nearly as nicely finished as a Belgian Browning, the ergos are still VERY good, true to Browning's design (and Saive). My boys started shooting centerfire pistols with the FM95, and it convinced me that 9mm Para was a legit caliber (45 bigot here). My youngest is a trigger nerd, and he really wondered at the dreadful trigger pull a parkerized magazine contributes to. I wound up pulling the mag disconnect, and that alone made the pistol WAY more fun to shoot as a range toy. Still not cool with the tiny safety, I understand there are upgrades available. The sights on the Argentine "improved" version are at least OK, but as I age bigger front sights become better. I'd be interested to see a video or two on how you address this issue.

Did a lot of competition shooting with it in the British Army. 1980-90’s. You can just use your middle finger to ease the trigger action by the way. You don’t need a mag to do it.

I just bought my first handgun, a springfield sa-35. I haven’t found a good video yet on the disassembly of that gun specifically. I assume the process if very similar if not identical to the hi-power. Can anyone confirm?

Hey does it make a difference which way the spring goes on the guide rod?
@jagenarmory32084 жыл бұрын
The tapered end (the end that's smaller in diameter) should go onto the guide rod, first. You may need to twist it as you push it on in order for it to seat completely. Hope that helps!

What position should the trigger lever be in when the gun is reassembled? I put my gun back together but the trigger won't function, even with a magazine in the well. If the trigger lever is straight up, the slide won't go on. If I move it to the side, the slide goes on but the gun won't function. I'm sure I can figure it out, but so far no joy.
@jagenarmory32086 жыл бұрын
Hey John. Are you asking about the trigger position, or the hammer position? The trigger position won't change throughout the field strip process, unless you're depressing it, which you shouldn't be. However, the hammer can. Regardless, the hammer should be in the "cocked" position when reassembling. Other than that, I'm unsure why your trigger will not function. The obvious would be not inserting the magazine as the Hi Power does utilize a magazine safety and the hammer won't fall without the magazine inserted. Did you disassemble the weapon further than what I show in the video? If so, was anything within the trigger group disturbed? Give me a little more info and I'm sure we can figure this out.

Turns out the Browning Hi Power I have is a model WaA140, made by the Nazis. No clue how my grandpa got it considering he fought in Vietnam instead of WW2
@fastford2128Ай бұрын
Lots of Nazi era weapons ended up in Vietnam...some of it came with the French Army and Legion from Post WWII stock piles...some of it came from Russian Post War stock piles as they supported North Viet Nam. Lots of Nazi era weaponry ended up in Iraq as Sadam idolized many things from the Nazi era.
