I know right, Jaguar dealer can be expensive just for an oil change. Been watching all his videos, tune, pulley, heat shield. They charged me 200$ because my Jaguar Control app ( start/stop) has an error and couldn't log in. They charged me even though I still have a warranty.

It pulls vacuum using a venturi which uses the flow of the compressed air hence it pumping to atmosphere .. good video thank you I just need some compressed air.

Good video , thanks.Im temped to do a running in change myself at 1,000 miles then over to the dealer at 12 months.The 0W-20 grade seems popular now in the UK as it helps manufacturers reach fuel efficiency targets. My Mercedes AMG A35 was serviced recently, the dealer promised to use 5W-30 but when I had it analysed it was 0W-20.I do wonder if using thin oil is at the expense of engine protection.Some also fit energy saving tyres , ie they have less tread !

I am one of those who have to correct. No disrespect. The reason for the 0w-30 is that the engine is made with tighter tolerances meaning thicker oil wont get into the precision machined parts. This is most evident with motorcycles if you use a higher weight. You can feel a rougher ride. So I would go with what the engineers with masters degrees say. Choose whatever brand but go with the weight they specify.

After researching, I agree. I ran the slightly thicker viscocity in the summer heat. No harm done, but changed it out after a couple of drives.

@@SuperSportMTL Now I suppose you could sub out 1 quart with one a bit thicker and get a bit of both worlds. Did that with a car a while back because I was poor and had 3 different oil types and not enough of either for my 2006 Tiburon. Ran fine. But I would definitly not try that on this car. Subbing 1 quart I would not think would hurt.

With most cars, changing the engine air filter is 10 times easier than changing the oil and filter. With the F-Type, changing the oil is 10 times easier than changing the engine air filters.

Changing 2 air filters: Remove wheels, wheel well liners, under body panels, 400 screws and bolts, change filters, repeat process! HAHAHA

I did mine with the mityvac as well. Loved it. My car calls for 6.5 liter fill as well. Its a 2016 R. However when I did my oil change I pulled out a little over 7 liters and when I filled it, it took about 7.2 liters to read correctly. I know really weird. Hope its not hurting anything but that's where the oil indicator read correctly. Also the 5w -30 not to break your balls but I wouldn't be doing 30. 5w -20 would be okay.

Lol the 20 vs 30 weight oil debate has begun ! There is no possible way to do any damage using a 30 weight only benefits when the engine heats up. Don’t forget we are spinning the supercharger at Eatons maximum recommended rpm... creating more heat than engineers over at Jaguar calculated when allowing a 0w20 or 5w20 fill. What does your GT350 need for oil spec when racing ?

I have a 2017 F Type R and I purchased the 90/15 Oil filter remover and it would not work it was too big. It slipped. I used a standard oil filter remover, clap type, and got it loose then used the remover. Not a huge deal just people may want to double-check their filter cap for the correct fit. Great video.

the 0w20 from castrol edge is one of the only ones made in Germany, its made completely differently and has a different formula with specific compounds for high performance engines. It should say made in germany on the bottles.

I used Castrol on our first oil change. But found out there is Jaguar/Land Rover spec. STJLR.03.5004 So this next change I'm going to use Valvoline European spec Ow-20. I found Castrol makes a Edge Professional A1 5W-20 that also meets JLR spec.

Its the from Jaguar SVR. It does not come with an engine cover and that is a heat shield to protect the paint on the hood from possibly discolouring.

I always suggest that you carry out your own basic maintenance. You will do a better job than most techniciens and save money!

Does that do a good job for removing any sludge that is situated at the bottom?

No clue why there would be so much "sludge'' at the bottom of the oil pan. I do my oil changes every 3K miles. sometimes more often than that depending on track day or what not. It does the job of changing the oil mess free. Gets 95% of it out.

Does that drain line go into the oil pan or is there a hook point or recepticle for the drain tube?

The line that you connect to in the oil fill cap goes to the bottom of the oil pan. It allows extraction of 90% of the oil

It isn't that I'm 'cheap.' It is that the incompetent stealerships often over-fill, scratch up your car, just generally are overpriced idiots. Without the compressor, hand pumping isn't difficult, just about a hundred total strokes.

why not drain the oil from under the car? let gravity ensure all old oil is out

This way avoids having to remove all the bolt from the shield under the car and climb under. Less potential mess, too. Although, I agree that draining from the bottom would be better to ensure you're getting all of the old oil and any dirt out.

Ya. All I needed to do is remove the airbox 4 latchs for the top to remove the air filter ( replace both at the same time anyways) ..and 4 easy screws to remove the air box. Reach in to unscrew the oil drain plug., Remove oil filter. Put new filter on..no need to tourq since filter has markings. Add oil... Put air box back on with new air filter. No need to jack up car or use a pump system to remove oil.
