I just followed your instructions and did my first oil change. Thank you. Your instructions were spot on and it only took me about 20 minutes. Thanks for posting this video. My local Jaguar service department wanted to charge me $480.

Great video dude. This Is one of the best out there. Most of the other ones just talk and not show. There is value for people when you actually take the time to go through the motions and show what you are doing etc…Fantastic work…

I'm thinking about buying one shortly. So I wanted to look at somebody who I feel competent and honest about the car. Especially when it comes to the minor things we can do ourselves. We have a great channel sir. And I will continue to follow you. Thank you.

Hey thanks. I'm working on a new series of videos for the V6 F-Type, doing stage 1,2 and 3 tunes and a trans tune. And then bumping to E85 fuel tune. Should take my 340 HP to 500+. Oh man! Stay tuned

Just bought one a few days ago. (For my kiddo, actually) Dealer overfilled the oil (per car computer). Looking forward to learning/trying the process myself, then turning around and teaching them how to do it!

It's so easy and no more dealer hassle and over paying. Congrats to your lucky kiddo.

excellent tutorial, thank-you! I bought a 2016 3.0 S 6mt last May, it had 29,000 miles on it, never seen salt. It's been in the garage all winter, time to bring it out in a week or so. Even the V6 is a fun car, 380 HP is plenty of power on the two lane twisties of New Hampshire where I live. I put 4,000 miles on it last year, I'll change the oil before putting very many miles on it this spring.
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
Yeah, great cars. Shoot my 340hp is a lil ripper. Keep in mind it's good to run the engine regularly to get the fluids moving and lubing the seals. It's not good to sit for weeks to months. At least start it and bring it up to running temp. Enjoy

Very good video, thank you. I'd suggest that the oil is lukewarm before the change as it will flow out more easily unless it's the middle of the summer. I've always learned that oil level at Max wasn't ideal as you're adding unnecessary load to the engine after the oil expands with temperature. The level should be just about half to leave a wiggle room. What do you think?

Why pour the oil in the big tube lol just pour the jug directly into the funnel. But great video! Getting me a 2018 ftype

nice DYI video, thanks so much. from the oil package, there is the engine oil drain plug, did not see u mentioned it. do you need to replace it?
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
Did my kit have to drain plug? I don't recall now. You only need to use it if you pull the lower drain bolt to remove the oil. If you use the pump method in this video, no need to change the drain bolt under the engine.
@renatowerder23439 ай бұрын
Congrats on the new ride. Maybe get a good radar detector for it. Would you not get more oil drained from under the car ?
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
Yes, you can get additional oil using the bottom drain plug. But hey, Jag made it so we can do it the easy way.

What's your opinion on prefilling the oil filter? Bit harder to do with cartridge filter but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer regarding this subject. I have the V8 F-Type and I also do my oil changes myself, very easy to do.
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
Pre filling is for non cartridge style filters that mount from the bottom or side. Just check your oil level after a short run after the oil change to ensure proper height. Remember to let car sit over 10 minutes before checking.

Just gotta say. Seems it would’ve been just as easy or easier to just refill right from the original oil cans. But hey. It gave you content for us.

@@MOTOPILOT6 how many miles between oil changes? Even with new vehicles, it has been my experience that there is less oil even at 3500 miles than when starting out with new oil. It may be minimal, but less nonetheless. That is why I always use what is recommended. Anyway, I really like that pump siphon you used.

When refilling, does it need to refill back thru the little hole that you drained the oil thru or is it fine just to let it fill like a regular car? Thanks
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
Just fill like a regular car. The small center tube is just for oil removal

Complain to Jaguar. And the amount of old oil in the pump is minimal and far less than what's still in the motor. It's actually very accurate and simplistic.
@danielallocca777018 күн бұрын
You can also get under the car, remove the drain plug etc like any other car. Biggest annoyance is no dipstick as he showed towards the end. Its super annoying and can be hard to get the fill level right which is why the method he used to get the right amount of oil is smart

Not smart refill. Huge risk.
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
It's not. Bigger risk is perhaps over filling by not refilling with exact amount of oil you extracted.
@michaelthompson9261Ай бұрын
@@MOTOPILOT6 Sorry, not a good response on my part. What I should have remarked was "a less risky alternate refill method" is to pull up on the pump reversal lever and deliver fresh oil through the clean larger tube that comes with your extractor. Not sure if your extractor has that feature, but that's how I've done it on my 3 F-Types and XKR over the years. Clean, effortless and accurate. Thanks for posting for the masses.
@iamthelaw698 ай бұрын
Refill process is dumb...you just need to know how much you're supposed to fill it with, and measure accordingly. Dumping old oil back in is also hella dumb.
@MOTOPILOT6Ай бұрын
The thin amount of oil left in the pump is NOTHING compared to how much old oil is still sitting in your engine and coating the internals.
