The Jaguar manual has a warning, you should not fill with oil until it runs out, the fill plug is not a level plug. The manual states for the 3 litre and 5 litre models the specific quantity of oil to put in.

1.23L for F-type 5.0L V8 for wet fill. Meaning NOT a brand new diff. Filling during routine maintenance and the diff is "wet inside". Broski definitely over filled that diff.

I've had plenty of cars, but this is the first one that I've ever had with a fill plug that isn't at the fill-to level. This is a horrible design. How difficult would it have been to put the plug at the proper level?

I have 2011 XJ-R and I just changed my diff oil for the first time at 95K miles, and it came out looking exactly like this. My plug had maybe half the metal shaving residue you had here (it is a big luxury boat so I don't drive it like you probably drive an F-Type 🙂). Easy peasy; ready for another 95K miles!

I just got my 3.0S coupe and researched the thing. I believe there is a breather on the diff that has to be cleaned.

Good to check the air breather also to avoid any future pinion seals weeping

Good video, thx. I like this one a lot better than the one for the coolant pipe replacement and supercharger removal ;) .

Ravenol MDL is an alternative to the Castrol BOT 720. It's interesting that the dealership had to order the BOT 720. What else have they been putting in the differentials they service?

I bought a 2015 F-Type R last summer, and I'm about to do this diff oil change. I figure I'll do it every 20k miles or so.

Good video, but why do so many people call the car a Jagwire instead of a Jaguar?

I have a f type r AWD. I just recently changed the rear diff fluid but the dealership said it only needs 1 quart. I’m wondering if that’s not enough
@MondayMods3 жыл бұрын
No I think the actual capacity is .9qts. I bought two spilt a bunch on the floor and used a transfer pump and some got left behind in there. Still had a half qt left when done

recommendations would have been showing people how to actually jack up and brace the rear of their car since 99.999% won't have a lift. You don't show where the fill plug is. I wouldn't say the extension you used to remove the fill plug was short but more of a standard length. No real info or links to the fill pump device.

Cool vid, thanks. I have a 2014 V6-S but only 25k miles, she's a garage queen. Do you recommend any particular service like tranny or supercharger or main belt or supercharger belt ? I've done Air filters, oil, & brake fluid, all too soon imo but just like working on cars.

Hi I was wondering how many miles you had on your F Type before changing it. I have a 2016 AWD with 25K miles.
@MondayMods Жыл бұрын
We changed it at about 70k miles but will probably do it every year from now on

I have a 2016 F-Type R with about 40k miles on it. Runs great but I get a clunking at low speed from the back of the car. Not sure if it's the diff or suspension. Seems like too low of miles to have suspension issues so I'm thinking diff. Never changed the fluid. Some have said changing the fluid would fix that. Just curious if anyone else has any thoughts on the "clunk" in the rear of the car. Again it's a low speed thing, like just a few miles an hour.
@dangrimmer23337 ай бұрын
I had this issue, did a DIY diff oil change yesterday and it seems to have disappeared. Also, engaging drive and reverse doesn’t ‘clunk’ anymore… judging by what came out of the diff, it hadn’t been done recently (it was black, smelly and way too much in there).

Really worried by all the videos here with 'technicians' handling fluids without taking basic PPE precautions, as this guy's hands show... Glove up before you touch the tools!
