In the refill hole there is a small tube that is there for a oil extraction. Suck all oil out, refill the exact same amount and replace the oil filter. Easy peasy!

Good video man. I was thinking about going this route. The traditional way! However it seems everyone on the F-Type forum is really suggesting to do the oil change with the mityvac. No need to go under the car and it tells you exactly the amount you extracted so you know how much to put back in. Your thoughts? ?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro, I bought a knock-off Mityvac from amazon a couple years back and it broke after two uses (probably because it was a knock off). That being said it was amazing while it lasted, It would make the oil change extremely simple and a lot less guessing for sure. If you get one, try to get one with a warranty. I think that’s what I’m going to do also!

This is doing this the hard way. Oil is to be extracted out via a pump like a MityVac. Good idea to let the car idle for a while then wait say 30 minutes and proceed. Warm old oil easier to syphon. The extraction hose is silicone so should be ok with reasonable heat.

Hey Connor, Love all your F-Type videos! I purchased a 2018 F-Type R last September and want to change the oil using the Mityvac 7201 Manual, I noticed on your Audi video using the 7201 you mentioned your F-Type at the end with this Mityvac and not sure if you made a video? Is it as easy as putting the hose into the tube under the oil cap and vacuuming it out like that? Thanks in advance for your reply. Gary

Hello from a fellow Okie! I wish I could crawl under a car like I used to but age has consequences. I used to take my F-Type to an independent shop here in OKC but now they’re only doing Volvo’s. I have an appointment with the dealership on Monday for an oil change and am cringing at what they’ll charge. Even if I could get under the car I’d be worried that I might miss something that a mechanic would notice in a comprehensive inspection. My 2014 looks brand new with 18k miles but there are clearly wear points that a home mechanic would miss. How do you keep from feeling “penny wise and pound foolish”? You’re a seasoned mechanic and yet you overfilled your car, despite warning us about the dangers. Sorry to ramble. Just the complaints of someone who is forced to trust the dealer. Thanks for your content.

Please, help me out here sir, I need your technical expert opinion. Prior to an oil and filter change on my "F-Type" at a jaguar dealership, I'd loosened up the oil cap. I'd rotated it 1/8 of a turn counterclockwise. After I picked my car, I noticed the oil cap was at the same spot, as if it was not touched. The oil filter housing was clean and I did not see any sign of oil or mess. The edge between the cap and the oil filter housing was dry. Based on these, I formed an opinion that the technician failed to change my oil and filter. My question is, Can the oil filter be replaced without any sign of spilled oil drops? I contacted the service manager, and future discussions with him were futile. What would have been your opinion? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Yea I think it is completely possible to not have spills while changing oil. Whether that happened or not I don’t know. If I was you, I might buy a plastic syringe and suction out a little oil and check the consistency of it. Because it’s a dealership.. they more than likely did an oil change. But you can always check if your worried!

@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 4 жыл бұрын
Yea man, you only run into problems if you start changing the weight/viscosity, modifiers or “non synthetic” in a synthetic car. Liqui Moly is a German company and the oil in the kit was specific to the jaguar/land rover engines. So it should be identical to OEM.
@cobras559
@cobras559 4 жыл бұрын
@@skrrtgarage3922 cool man that's what I thought. Going to grab that kit even though I Don't need the plug. Going to do it with the mityvac. One more question man. You ever use an oil flush additive? Liqui Molly has one. People say its good to do for caked oil when changing. my car only has 6k miles but wanted to get your thoughts on that as well. Thanks.
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 4 жыл бұрын
@@cobras559 No I haven't used one. I am a little hesitant to try one because whatever is in the flush additive must be pretty strong in order to penetrate and remove built up deposits and the idea of that coating the entire engine worries me it'll get where it's not supposed to be lol. Couple that with the fact that our engines only drain 80% of all the old oil makes me really not want to. I think if our cars had higher milage the benefits might outweigh the risks though. What do you think?
@cobras559
@cobras559 4 жыл бұрын
@@skrrtgarage3922 Yeah man I couldn't agree more. Freaks me out putting shit like that into my car. I just been reading on the forums that some of the guys are in favor of it. For me though I don't like it going through all the internals of the engine. So definitely would have to agree with you. I'm always looking for enthusiast's feedback though so I appreciate it. I have read that you never truly get all the oil out whether you do it the traditional way under the car or from the top. That is unfortunate but I don't think its harming the car. If you have 90 percent fresh /new oil - one would think that old 10% isn't really weighing in (no pun intended). Lol Thanks man - I will be chatting with you on other videos you do I'm sure. 👍

3000 miles is way too long for a GDI. Also GF5 0/5W-20 has been cancelled by vehicle manufactures for virtually zero wear protection and causes premature GDI timing chain failures. Use 5W-40 minimum, 10W-60 is recommended by Castrol for 500HP+. And pump it out every 1000-1500 milies, its just $25, half a tank of gas. The filter is good to 10K miles since filters are completely useless money makers. They do absolutely nothing to prevent wear, 90% of wear is caused by 1-2 micron metal particles. Filters catch 20 micron and higher and do zilch to remove GDI soot. A Franz or Amsoil toilet paper filter is a different story, and will keep your oil cleaner than new in the bottle. That prevents some wear. The new GF6 standard replaces GF5 as of May 2020, but its aimed at ultra high fuel economy oils, only. The AJ133 dates to 1997 when 10W-40 was standard. If you use SAE20 weight oil, have your timing guides and chain replaced every 80K miles to prevent catastropic engine damage from soot contamination, wear, and stretching.
