The old Peugeot Citroen 1.9 and the 2.0 litre diesel engines could cover mind blowing mileages with simple routine servicing, , mine did 400,000ish before being rear ended, the engine lives on in a van somewhere. Now we have engines with a lifespan of a few years and less than a 100,000 miles before major surgery is required. Where exactly was the great leap forward in technology? ❤

Yep, not exactly good for the environment to have engines last only 1/4 the mileage life of old engines….

What are the repercussions driving with a cracked DPF? Would it be good for the car? DPF shooting out soot, less LP EGR intake because the mesh filter is completely blocked. Less regenerations because of no back pressure so no oil dilution?

You'd think so but they tend to try and regen more. They also can block and then cause turbo damage

Because i have a vibration since 80k km, since there i changed the motor mounts (mine where good when i changed it ), i changed the exhaust vibration damper ( this was alsoo good when i changed it) , the vibration is still there at 120k km now. I also changed the motor mounts actuator and the vibration is still there, there is no chain noise. I have the car since 30k km, i made the oil changes every 10k km, the engine sounds good, but that vibration when stationary and around 1300-1400 rpm makes me mad, can be possible my issue is balance shafts?

@@jrvehicleservices thank you for replying It's an auto, 2.0 diesel,, sorry I should have said (I'm not very mechanically minded but trying to learn bits and pieces) You're not alone, 2 garages so far, not sure. One said balance shaft and needs a new engine. The other said something on the exhaust, but it's still there. The engine mounts were changed and this noise appeared soon after. Not sure if coincidence. I've seen two other instances of this on XE forums and one was apparently solved with timing chain (loose timing chain slapping against guides) and the other also timing chain and the owner decided on an engine rebuild. My chains, bearings etc were checked when this started and were reported as ok. Total mystery. Bringing it in again next week to a new garage. Enjoying your videos, you're very well- versed in Ingenium.
