True, though there is a reason for it. A study by lindzen, Happer and Winjgaarden entitled “Net Zero Averted Temperature Increase” calculated that even if the entire world were to achieve net zero, this would only reduce global temperature by 0.07°C. We need more CO2 to increase food production. This is the last thing the global elite want since a food shortage is a proven control mechanism. Net zero could cost $3.5 trillion per annum. It is the biggest scam since lockdown and has the same aim which is to take down the economy and destroy democracy in favour of ESG.

How do Skoda have the audacity to charge over £800 to warranty a £50k car for 5 years! All cars should be forced to warranty for at least 5 years. In the UK Kia do 7 years but in the US it’s 10?? How is there a difference? UK consumer laws need updating
@gimble4472 ай бұрын
Government doesn’t have any control over Kia doing 7 instead of 10, both exceed consumer law requirements, but I have a feeling it’s more to do with climate/corrosion etc tbh as to why it’s lower in the UK (and the whole of Europe as most manufacturers just have continental policies on warranty)
@Richard-r1x7d2 ай бұрын
I know someone who bought a new Skoda. The 7 year’s warranty is a con, just a sales thing. Lots of things went wrong. He kept talking it back, they would say it was fixed and it wasn’t it just did the same things again and again. Either they didn’t know what they were doing or they didn’t do it. In the end after about a year of this he sold it and bought a new Citroën C5 and never looked back. This was all about 2010. Hi Geoff. I live in the southeast of Spain, and a lot of the taxis are Skoda Superbs. Having talked to our local taxi driver he said that it's the cheapest car for him to run. In our neighbourhood, most of his runs are on the motorway. E15/A7. I drive the 1.6 Skoda Octavia 2016 estate DSG. Lots of MPG, around 60 on a long run, and 50/55 locally.

I purchased now to avoid the new euro7 coming out in January 2025. The car industry and aircraft industries regardless of brand need to join up and fight back. Another good vid Geoff, however, I don’t agree with your remarks on DSG boxes. I have owned over the last 16 years, 6 VW group DSG diesels (all higher power versions)and never had a problem. Gear sticks are past history!! As for the price of new cars, utterly barmy!!

The dry clutch DGS's that went on some of the weaker petrol models had issues, but the wet clutch ones that had to be put on every diesel to handle the torque are very reliable apart from the mechantronic issues that some of the very early DSGs sufferend from probal15+ years ago. I wouldn't worry about buying a DSG now, though I have no intention of changing my current car until it's unrepairable. Continuing to drive my dieselgate TDI until the wheels fall is way better for the planet than manufacturing a new car every 2-3 years - especially since I don't do massive mileage.

Back in the 2010s, my late wife bought her first, and only brand new car. A 1.4 classic blue coloured Octavia. cost just over 14,000. It was fabulous. Spacious, comfortable, quick and economical. Since then, everything has gone taller and fatter and heavier. I ended up with a mark 1 vrs 1.8 turbo. The first Octavias were sleek and pretty. Now it's all angles and grills that look like they came from the kerbside drains. Can we go back to pretty and practical please.

China is building more and more coal fired power stations to power factories that build "Environmentally friendly" EVs. How bonkers is that? As for the Skodas, the price for the fine for selling too many ICE cars is probably built into the price as £52K for a 2.0 diesel Skoda is bonkers. £6000 for a 13 year old one with 90k is also ridiculous.

I had diesels for 20 years but the emission controls on modern diesels is beyond comprehension at best, and major problems and expense in the future. My last car was a Tiguan tdi, the best I got was 43mpg. At 80,000 miles I could see a replacement dpf coming up, oil dilution and maybe an EGR valve either way expensive. I wouldn’t go back to diesel.

If you're considering buying any Skoda of that era with a manual keep a close eye on the gearbox. These are troublesome. Dual mass flywheel separating on TDIs as well as gearbox leaks eventually causing the box to run dry and explode. I've changed a gearbox on a 2011 Octavia 1.6 TDI 4x4 and my advice is to get a FWD one. Servicing/replacing the gearbox on the 4x4 is a LOT more expensive.

It’s clear that the governments know that the public will rebel if an aspect of choice is “banned” so they cannot do that directly. Instead they choose arbitrary legislation and regulations that they can force on manufacturers, in essence achieving the same aims. The manufacturer can only go bust, increase prices to pay fines, or hope that the public vote into office someone else with the balls to stop this nonsense. Given the fact we’ve just voted in Labour, that’s not going to happen soon.

I’m not a big believer in the electric dream purely because I have never had enough money to buy a brand-new car and I know I’m not alone in this scenario when you look at the price of electric vehicles EV’s they are not attainable and affordable for a hell of a lot of general motorists and let’s be honest this includes myself a lot of people don’t really go that far in their cars the majority of the time so the range of an EV even though it is important at be a massive problem for Even myself or a lot of people but I wouldn’t buy a secondhand EV purely because the unknown is the battery the extortionate price that EV batteries are when you need to replace one it is not worth taking the risk. I have a 2 L diesel Ford Kuga and it does me well but where I live Boston in Lincolnshire we are not blessed with 1 million and one electric chargers. I also have communal parking where I live so I cannot charge my vehicle at night. Do not have a driveway. I’m not against owning an electric vehicle. I don’t like the lies that surround the entire industry that puts me off a lot and primarily the price the price is ridiculous. They want people to buy these things and then price probably 70% of the general public out of the equation even if after the complaining that people do about range of and EV possibly wouldn’t be a problem for most people people will not adopt them because of the infrastructure is not there for charging the cost of the damn things and the bill that will be coming at some point once the battery needs replacing that basically writes the car off the price of a replacement battery yes I’m fully aware that normal combustion engine vehicle so with the same problem you damage your engine through stupidity or whatever it will cost more in a lot of occasions to buy a new or reconditioned engine than what the car is worth but at least accomplished in engine vehicles are affordable on the secondhand market. EV’s are not and are not worth taking a risk on.
