Jaguar Struggles to Deal with an Enormous Crocodile

We have all bitten off more than we can chew, but never quite as much as this female jaguar! She managed to catch an enormous amain, but had some real difficulty getting it out of the river.
Jaguars will typically drag their catch away from the river to feed, but what if it is too big? This jaguar tried moving the caiman several times in several places, and eventually got it right, but after some serious effort. On the plus side, she did not have to hunt again for a week with so much food.

That was a pretty big caiman had to be at least 1.5x the body weight of the jaguar. I can't imagine a caiman that size or any member of the crocodilian family for that matter having to worry about being someone else's lunch 99.9% of the time it's the other way around.

You're right in a sense. In fact, the jaguar has THE strongest bite force of any big cat, including tigers and lions. Not just pound-for-pound, but overall strongest. Though when taking a look at the bone/muscle structure of a jaguar's jaw area, it has a very pronounced bulge, tied in with rippling muscled shoulders, so taking on a big caiman like the one in this video shouldn't be too surprising when it comes to a jaguar. Jaguar = Indian word meaning "he who strikes once" about says it all when it comes to this VERY impressive cat. That said, even a jaguar would stand ZERO chance against a cat like the Siberian Tiger, for example, as it would weigh 2X the weight of a big male jaguar. But overall, I think the jaguar is my favorite of all the big cats.

Amazing display of strength. That caiman is bigger than the jaguar, yet got killed and is being hauled around. All it takes is one caiman leg to get strapped to some undergrowth and the jaguar will be unable to lift it up.

Good kitty! A single jaguar is a lot more impressive than a lion pride. We have seen youtube videos of how poor the lions fared against crocs. This black cayman is roughly about 10' and a single female jaguar caught it inside the river. I have seen a lion pride trapped a croc no more than 12' on land but couldn't hold the croc. The croc safely got back into the water. We should bring a few pair of jaguars to face the Nile crocs. The jaguars will be smart enough not to tackle large crocs.

Couple of things, that is a speckled caiman, so much smaller than the big black caiman, and lions (on land only) can deal with the biggest of crocs - to be fair they do work in a pride.

Whether it’s a 6-8’ croc or caiman, the jag can most likely make a meal out of it. Crocs don’t just automatically start off at 18’ 1500lbs like some people make it seem. Until they reach those larger sizes they can be taken.

There’s absolutely no way at all this would work with a saltwater croc. Jaguars are way too small. Full grown caiman are juvenile sized to a croc.

I would put money on the crocodilians. From what I know, they only really specialise in caimans in the Pantanal area.

Pretty average sized yacare caiman on the outside. But I mean, it is a 60 kilogram meal. It takes a lot of energy to kill that shit, even if it is small for a crocodilian and lazy. Jaguars need the extra calories for it.
