He's looked after it very well. It would come like new after a machine polish and full valet. Very nice colour combination, and it's got the right alloys. I like it a lot.

I've been tempted by one of these for a good while. Had a Series 3 XJ (5.3 V12 Sovereign), couple of XJ40's, X300 Sovereign and X308 XJR , so it seems right to complete the set. A Supercharged one possibly cos the X308 XJR was without doubt the quickest thing I've ever driven.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. You forgot to mention that a Rover 25 sunroof assembly will easily fit in the boot.

I used to like the jaguar xj6 sport, I know it was really a ford, but they were lovely looking cars, getting a low mileage one of those now would be brilliant, great engine

Hi Nigel, as you are talking jaguars, I thought I would mention my new purchase, I have gone and bought a 2001 Jaguar 4.0 Sovereign LWB its bodywork is in good condition. When I viewed the car I sadly never took it for test drive given its location. So my collection yesterday was a bit of a disappointment my interior mirror swings more than my CK Does lol.. I think there is a piece of plastic missing. I picked car up from Kidderminster and taking it back to South Wales. it drove reasonable around 30 and 40 and even at 50 wasn't bad. But once I got up on M5 I WASN'T happy with steering like a vibration..? Overall power was good fuel economy was as id expect. I put £50 in it. OK so I have to compare Jaguar with my other 4 cars Audi 2.7tdi estate 2007 and my 52 plate Mercedes 320 convertible, my Astra Bertone 2.2 on 52 plate and my twin top 2007 Astra 1.9CDTI which sadly has gremlins of electrical nature Windows n roof. My feelings on viewing car seller said car had been off the road since 2016 so driving such a car may improve its performance..? The two other mentions was strut top bushes within engine bay and the 4 tyres. I did experience my Audi on POOR tyres they were fitted with budget worn out tyres and I bought a 4 set of Avon's which I felt improved the car. Having owned a Jaguar before my last one was a 3.2 Executive on 2000 year plate. And I loved this car for various trips within my home location. Also loads of water on the M4 motorway and the underside sounded like a gush of water hitting the underside, It did not feel right. I guess my service history will give me clues or maybe I should have car vertical it before buying it.. I feel my judgment of my X registered car and this new one had to be better but I am now doubting my thoughts...opppps £2.200 is quiet a bit to pay, My previous Jag was £1100. Must be honest I drive my convertible petrol Astra to London twice now and for a car I gave £350 quid for back in 2016 it quietly improves I have 3 snow tyres on the car with one budget tyre but there part worn good brand tyres. The cloth roof was stinking dirty I had that cleaned 1st time the other week wow it looks good, so my plan is hopefully keep doing steady improvements. Just got one car missing out of my original 5 cars I had before I bought my 14 plate Transit van.. Your going to like this.. ha ha ha An MG my last was a Wedgewood 2000 SE I call them pocket rockets fast fun lots of smiles. And so with Hydro suspension the more appealing on would now be TF, I fancy the 135 sprint TF Love cars with leather..

I have a 2.7 diesel X358 (face lift model) in the same colour. Remapped the engine produces 258 bhp and a monster 400 lb ft torque giving effortless performance, great car.

I find the Jaguar XJ to be a car of conflicts. On the one hand, there’s The Equaliser, cruising around LA in his Jag righting wrongs and sorting out the bad guys and being all cool. Nice. But on the other hand my neighbour when I was a child had one and he was a short, balding yet hairy builder who appeared to think he was John Travolta. Less nice. The Mayor has one, but so does the pub landlord, one clanks and rattles a bit because of the gold chain around the rear seat passenger’s chest, the other because of the dodgy dvds sliding around in the boot. How can the same car be both gangster and golf club at the same time? If it were 2006/7 and I wanted a big car like this I think the Jaguar might well get some serious consideration, but would it beat the Citroen C6 in the Windy Miller Unnecessary Big Floaty Barge of Bad Ideas contest? Or would I do the sensible thing and get a Lexus LS? Hmm.

Equaliser was NYC not LA.

I do agree. I was trying to work out why I liked the interior and the best my brain came up with was 'because its British' whatever that means. Feels homely. That engine sounds like the one in the Citroen C6! Think it was a PSA / Ford venture. Perfect car for you and the multicoloured brogues! 😂

Xf is far superior to the XJ, and the 2.7 diesel not a good engine that's why they changed to a 3.0 in the later XFs
