BMW have become a victim of their own success. They can churn any car out knowing people will lease them (yes, most are on PCP finance in the UK). I am not judging you and your financial position at all, far from it. My point is anyone these days with a job can walk into Sytners or wherever and get a 4 series. There is nothing special or exclusive about BMW anymore because of that fact. Available to all. Far too many on the roads so why people insist on driving around in them trying to show off in something as commonplace as a Vauxhall beats me. The obsession with badges and labels these days is very sad indeed. As for the Jaguar, the XE is a fine car. Ive driven a few and really surprised how good the ride and handling is. I also felt more special in one because its not so common on the roads. A piece of English heritage, I like the fact it sticks two fingers up to the badge snobs. If someone says to me they have a BMW I just think so what. I did drive them thirty years ago though when you needed a few quid to buy one as PCP finance didnt exist back then. I think that made them more exclusive at the time, driven by yuppies and the like. Oh happy days :)

Thanks a lot for the nice review, helped a lot in buying one. I love the BMWs, and being in Germany cannot ignore the trios of Audis, BMws and Mercs. But one cannot buy a Jag just for an edge, it needs to actually compete with what the Germans do the best. Seems like XE does the job, reliability, lets see in a few more years (guarantee period of 5 years of Jag, as this model is just 5 years old, is nothing compared to the decades of tested and tried built quality of the trios)

I have just recently purchased the XE 2.0L Diesel version, (not R sport) BUT, I can Guarantee you, i could still outpace any petrol varient of the 2.0L verient.. I do like to REV High from the start, then rev and dump clutch at least twice through ALL gears. I do like to drive ;D at least 2x though each gear.. i gives us manual geared drivers the edge over auto geared anyday!

Good choice. German cars are far too common on the UK roads now. Drivers think they are something special yet there is nothing exclusive about owning one. Todays society is filled with self important show offs. Jaguar sticks two fingers up to all of it :D

You give the best reviews about a car after driving it for 4-5 years. Let me tell you how the 2016 Jaguar XE looks after 5 years. The car was driven gently and carefully because it was the "joy" of the family, it had regular checks and service. The car had no damage or incident. He didn't accidentally cross a ramp faster ... After 5 years the engine sounds worse than my grandfather's "old man - Opel", yesterday I discovered a very dangerous crack on both the left and right front of the axle stub (very dangerous to drive) The crack looks like metal fatigue - the famous aluminum that Jaguar boasts of building the whole car. The rest are small details: a window rattles, an ornament comes off ... I think a Dacia Sandero was much better .... With such a car, does Jaguar want to compete with BMW, Mercedes or Audi? From what I understand, this was the intention when they designed the model. Hmmmm, good luck I have to sell mine urgently

I've had mine for 2 years now. Great car but I am unable to get my head around this rediculess audio set up. As we no longer have access to the simple-to-use CD system I am at a loss as to how to get my music to play. I have a collection of MP3 downloaded onto a USB drive but when I stick it in the car it is unable to recognise it.

took one for a test drive, I was keen for an XF but thought it might be too big, so thought the XE was perfect. .Personally, and it is of course a personal choice, but after about 15 mins of driving it I couldn't wait to get out of it. It drove well technically, heaps of power, great steering, and the exterior styling is beautiful. But, at the saying goes, you can't see the outside when you're driving it on the inside. I found the XE cramped, claustrophic and with barely enough for three passengers, let alone 4 or 5. I don't know what Jaguar does with all that interior room., one thing I've heard is that they deliberately make the interior small so it feels like a race car. Either that or they design their cars around drivers who are all 5 ft 6.. I'm 6 foot, not super tall but I found my right knee rubbed against the door speaker, it felt like a cheese grater after a while. I felt so cramped and hemmed in, I couldn't even rest my elbow on the door arm rest, it's too narrow and too hard to rest your elbow on comfortably. I think Jaguar get the exterior and driving engineering right, their interiors look great on a computer design but the ergonomics in real world driving aren't great. If only they could hire an ergonomics expert to improve their interiors, they'd be on a real winner.

Unbelievable that anyone would think this unreliable shed can compete with proper German machinery. The cabin is cramped, the plastics cheap and nasty and the depreciation is shocking.Look how few people have watched this video in comparison to its competitors. The Indians bought a dog rather than a cat. JLR loses £360 million per year on Jaguar, buffered only by profits from LR. Why all the hand and arm waving in the video? Most distracting.

Have you actually driven the thing? I have, and trust my judgment over a tv programme. The car is cramped, shoddily assembled from poor quality materials. It's noisy inside and outside, with the poor engines running. It's jerky, underpowered and handles poorly. A typical old-man's car, since Jags are never bought by women and the average buyer is age 59. No opinion there, just facts. Why do you think they're unable to sell many?

I drove an XE for a couple of weeks and loved it. Superb handling smooth & quiet. It felt premium inside easily as good as my 5 series. The average XE buyer age is 48 with 51 being the average for the sector which includes 3 series & A4. Most road tests I have read said similar to this from Road & Track "Once enthusiasts drive an XE, it's game over for anything else in the class" or What Car? "The XE handles superbly, darting in to bends and staying flat and composed through all manner of twists and turns" Jag have sold 45,000 XE`s each year since launch. This video only has 8k views but then the CarWow one has 650k!! What is your point?

The point is that the vast majority aren't even interested in Jags, which explains the tiny number of views and the fact that only 59 people gave a thumbs-up here. JLR has just reported major losses in the UK and is embarking on a £1.6 billion savings programme. Not a sign of a firm doing well, eh? The cars are junk. Bottom of every reliability survey.

Lastly, you do realise that the 3 big German manufacturers have recalled 3.8 million of their cars over the last YEAR. Not including the 8+ million that VW had to put a "Fix" on for the emissions they were cheating...
