Except for the timing chains, the 2012 N/A is the best spec XF. Those darn timing chains are why I sold both my XF’s. But I missed Jag so much, I bought a 2019 XJL V8 and I am happy again. The updated timing chains gives me some peace of mind.

I have the pre-facelift (2010) and the dash top is perfect, but there are places who can repair them if they start to come away. You don't have to replace the whole thing. Great car, don't let a couple of little niggles spoil your enjoyment.

I've had mine for about a month and a half now. Such a beautiful car. The interior is stunning. I bought a clip for sunglasses to have somewhere to put them that didn't take up the cupholders. Very well kept and beautiful car!

@@joeridestrijcker445 No, but there are easy options. The door pocket, the cubby under the armrest (just use a soft case) but clips are a cheap and easy fix. I would have like to have seen the thing that Volvo do, a pocket at the bottom of the seat at the front.

@@severnsea hmm, bizarre... my 2016 XF does have one; perhaps the cars with sunroof don't because the roof-control-buttons take up that space

@@joeridestrijcker445 My car doesn't have the sunroof, but there were slight changes to the interior on later models so maybe they added a space for the sunglasses. Also, mine is a UK model - we don't get that much sun! It may be unique to US models. I've never seen one on any of the review video though.

If i start my XF it won't let me check the oil for 20 min. Is yours the same?

These engines are pretty bullet proof. Surprised to hear that. What they do suffer from is worn timing chain tensioners and that makes a tapping sound.

@@geebeesgarage I've had my 2011 XF for about 6 months now. It has 75 on the clock. I'm getting a rattling noise when first start up and it goes away in about 2 seconds. Does this sound like a timing chain tensioner to you?

@@ragnar2320 sounds to me like most likely just the engine needs to warm up to get the oil running to the top to the lifters. I have a 2005 Mercury Marquis that does that famous lifter tap till it warms up. Takes about 2mins for my engine to warm up till it goes away. 2 seconds is nothing. I wouldn't be very concerned unless it does it for a long time. When the sound doesn't go away then is the time to have a mechanic check it out you might just need a lifter replaced. Or I suppose it could be the timing chain tensioner but I doubt it. Usually timing chains, belts & tensioners should be replaced (or have to be to save the engine) at certain high miles in all cars. Most are around 80,000 miles & up but you should check with a Jag mechanic when is the time to do it. Should be pretty easy to look up or just call A Jag dealership mechanic & ask. But a 2 second rattling noise I suppose wouldn't be of much concern unless it is SUPER LOUD rattling noise when you start it. Good luck. Let us know an update if you find out or ask a mechanic.
