In 2019--- (2011 XF 5.0SC @ 50k-mi here) still have it, still drive it, still love it. No complaints and only minor things ive fixed over the years (1window motor, map light grimlin, fuel pump connector hat, etc) The SC isnt the best mpg but that's not what its for even tho its decent if driven casually. What it does well is comfort and 0 - whatever mph very quickly while maintaining absolute control. This thing is very fast.

Im thinking about getting one.... But the Kia Optima looks EXACTLY the same. I like the fact i can own a 500 hp car for under 30k , but DAMN😡 how did Kia get away with ripping off Jag?
@wesleyd.7433
@wesleyd.7433 5 жыл бұрын
@@bristal1000 at first glance they do look similar but next to each other the JagXF has some distinct differences, tire/wheel size (big), the contours and the XF is bigger too. Still both are great cars. If you find one (xf) make sure its been serviced regularly and for the 5.0supercharged make sure coupler and bearings are quiet or figure $900 partial or $1900 total rebuild sc

@@wesleyd.7433 I mean yeah , i can see the subtle differences. But driving down the street and my ex wife see's me & shes waiting for the bus and its raining out , and i drive by and splash a puddle onto her face 🤣, i dont want her to think that wss done by an Optima by Kia. I want it to be known thats an iconic car worth more than what she and her bar fly girlfriends could ever make in a year🤣

I have a 2011 XFR and it is an amazing bargain 10 years later now that someone else took the $70,000 depreciation hit. This engine is identical to mine and can be easily tuned to 550+ hp. And while quality is average, these hold up way better than most German counterparts. I do wish Jaguar kept some of it's old-school interior opulence. Though nice, it doesn't feel high end enough compared to Jaguars of old. As for the headlights, I do agree. The facelift is nicer. But it is also less unique and looks more like every other car out there. Anyway, if anyone is doing car buying research, do not hesitate on an XF with this engine. A little extra is worth it with the R. Especially if tuning isn't of interest.
@caustic69

@@mustafaturk1062 Well I assume you realize the base 2011 xf (North America) is a N/A V8 making way less power. (385?). 2012+ base engine was the supercharged V6 with only 340. Then the XF supercharged upped that to 470hp as per this video. The XFR bumps that to 510. Adds suede headliner. Nevis model staggered 20" wheels. Sport rear diff. Rear spoiler. Some had a nicer rear diffuser. Way huggier awesome seats (heated and cooled), and I believe ensures you have every factory option other than adaptive cruise. I find that most supercharged versions go for the same as the XFR so there is little point in entertaining them unless you find a deal. If you wish to tune, both engines make the same power.
@Twixx32
@Twixx32 12 жыл бұрын
It is supercharged . There are 3 version : 5.0 aspirated 385 hp; 5.0 supercharged 470 hp; 5.0 supercharged XFR 510hp;

the previous headlights gave it more character and if I wouldn't have watched this video, I wouldn't have even noticed that it was a problem. everybody seems to want the same cookie-cutter style. I actually prefer the pre 2012 XF headlight look

@gene978 start/stop only gets you 1 or 2 extra mpg. its that supercharger thats taking up so much fuel. plus...if u have the cash for a car in this segment, i doubt fuel economy is the reason of buying one.

I know looks, designs & appearance are all subjective but I personally loved the headlight design on the previous gen because it reminded me of the Xj(x350) styled headlights & how it actually flowed into the hood design. Which I felt like was one of its best bold & daring attributes. It distinctively was Jaguar & it gave it a more aggressive styling, which in contrast to the latter model makes it not stand out so much to me.

The new mustang has over 660hp for around $50k. That's not a lot of power for a low price? Personally, I love the XF and I'd buy one over most cars, but the Mustangs and Camaros have a ton of power for a cheap price. (Unfortunately they're almost twice the price here in Canada)

@gene978 I just had a talk with an engineer about start/stop and the environmental gains. The technology, on average, reduces fuel consumption by 3%. So in the case of the Jag the consumption would be reduced by about 1/2 a gallon. Every little bit helps these days. -Charlie@RoadflyTV

The XF remains, in my mind the ONE reason Ford/Lincoln NEVER should have given up on the Dew-98 platform and the LS. No, the LS was not flawless, some will say it wasn't great, but I think all would agree it had huge potential looking at the Jaguar S-type then the XF. Both built on the Dew-98 platform.

Idk if anyone still looks at this, but I found a 2011 xf supercharged for 16k with 89k miles....What I want to know are the trims, what's the difference between a base, portfolio,and supercharged? Also I heard this are pretty reliable. If so would it be good to get the 2011 supercharged with 89k miles for $16k or a 2012 xf base or portfolio for $17-$18k with around 40-50k miles? Please reply. I would love to have one of these.

You do what I did, you buy the newest car with the least miles on as you can afford. I do don't think that buying a newer base say,2012 if you get a higher level such as Portfolio in a 2011. I never buy the "entry" level on any car for example for Jaguar it's the XE. I prefer a pre owned top of the line over a new entry level. But that's just my opinion. I have a pre-owned 2012 XF Supercharged V8, Portfolio. If considering a monster like this you may not like the MPG'S that go with it. I tell people my car is so FAST it will pass anything, unless it's a gas station. Fwy. 23.4 mpg. But I'm used to driving gas 🐖 pigs so I knew what I was getting into. The next one down is the premium luxury then luxury, then base. You can also get the Portfolio without the supercharger. I think. Anyway this is my 2 nd Jaguar. No matter which level you decide on its going to be an excellent choice.

i didn't know these cars had 470hp.. I've seen them on the road but had no idea. I'd definitely get a used one with lower mileage.. How reliable are these cars with little things breaking? You can get used one for under 20k with 50k-60k miles.. Not a bad deal... IMO

i still have concerns about jag when it comes to reliability. I remember not too long ago they were getting top marks on JD power for reliability, but now there back down to bottom ranked. One reason I'd still prefer Mercedes is they've been consistently rated well for reliability. Also, if i buy a car for this much money I want to know for sure that I'm not going to hear a soft rattle a year later.....rattles drive me insane!

Why would you look at the kia rio if you are looking at the jaguar? Those cars are completely different, if you are in the jaguar market, look at something like the BMW 328i, which is great on gas like the rio. Not trying to insult you but, people looking in the midsize luxury segment tend to not look at something like the kia rio, unless you are looking at it for the warranty, which i could understand, because it is great.
