I first saw a 'C' being driven by John Steed in The Avengers and immediately thought it was the coolest design. Over 40 years later and I still think it's hard to beat for sheer style and panache. I'm pretty certain Harry's finished example with that glorious colour and manual conversion will easily earn the accolade of the finest XJC in the world.

I agree, it's up there together with the BMW e9 coupe and Ferrari 330GTC. It's going to look stunning. Late-1960's to early-1970's was a great time for elegant car designs.

I agree I'm to young era wise 37 but when I saw The Avengers on repeat I was hooked. Modified or stock they look stunning. Not sure the name of the colour either that crazy Magenta purple, Prim rose yellow or Brown. Not from the 70s but my colour pallet screams 70s 🙂

Being the age I am I remember back in the seventies British Leyland cars sitting in storage yards would start to rust before they go to the dealers and the dealers would have to fix them before sale!

I’m utterly impressed with the way they’ve recreated an off side rear wing by using a rear wing and half a door skin from four door panels that is sheer brilliance in my opinion...350 hours so far so maybe 500 odd total? I’m glad Harry has very deep pockets! Should probably be the best example in existence when completed 👍🇬🇧👌

This painter knows his craft. He is correct about every step, and has very good attention to detail. Not all paint shops are created equal! Your car is in very good hands. I would like to see the blocking phase. Add another £800 to the bill..

I wonder what hourly rate Harry is being charged? Even at £50/hr that’s £25K labour just for the body and paint and I reckon that skill level is going to be a lot more expensive than that!

Thanks. Part of me thinks going for metallic green was a bit too obvious but then the Steed XJC was green. Then I think the shade Novol came up with (after scanning that Aston Martin DBX and deleting the flip) is mega. We'll know for sure once the bodywork goes green too!

Very impressed with the body work repairs, but seeing the clips of the rampant tin-worm the car had, I'm not surprised with that, the XJC's were notorious for rotting before your very eyes. This car will look beautiful once completed and Painting Classic Cars are recreating a masterpiece with their attention to detail.

Surely the fact that the car is this completely rusted and has been repeatedly repaired makes you appreciate just how untrue this is. There has always been good craftsmanship and bad. There was terrible work in the 50s and 60s and you are watching a video about brilliant craftsmanship from 2021. To think old was bad now is good, is to live in a memberberry fairytale.

My remark was general, coming from the building industry it’s most difficult to find qualified labour to renovate old buildings, for example plastering and stuc trades for example

The contrast between the body "before" versus "after" is quite astounding. Most car owners would have abandoned this car once all that corrosion became apparent. Loving this series about the Jag restoration. When I was a boy I loved Steed's Coupe in the New Avengers and did actually see an XJC once in N. Wales - living there you didn't see many nice or exotic cars. This is excellent.
