Hi, thanks for watching & your comment - this question was also raised by another person, here is my reply: Hi, and thanks for watching! - You raise a couple of good points, firstly yes all the data is held on the processor & yes it is possible to ‘hot swap’ the MCU without making a backup copy - BUT this is bad practice, firstly making a backup copy of the data as soon as the processor is removed is an ‘insurance policy’ if the processor gets damaged re-installing it for example, the legs can get damaged - not so much on this type of MCU but other more fragile types it can be.. also by cloning it the customer received 2 units back, if for any reason the replacement unit had another fault, let’s say maybe the fuel gauge didn’t work or Speedo was faulty then he could simply put his old unit back in to use (in this case it had flickering backlights) - Golden rule is always make backup copies of data & keep it stored safely, it can come in very useful later on!
