This is exactly what I needed, because I'm planning to swap the satnav-system on my 2004 XK8 to the much more classic looking three gauges and therefore will have to change all the veneer. Thanks a lot, Damian, for this very detailed and helpful series of dashboard-videos!!

Christian, thanks again. Waiting to receive and test some instrument LEDs before refitting the main instruments.I think the car definitely looks better with the three dials rather than the small screen SatNav. Good idea to swop it out. Thanks for the comment regards Damian

Why not just do like I did and put a Garmin unit in its place? Then you have a user friendly, functional, up to date GPS unit and your dash is all set up for it, looks factory when it's done.

@@flyurway This is for sure a good idea if you want to have a working satnav in your XK8 - but to me that's not the point: I hate screens in cars and don't want my car to tell me, where I should go ;-)

I changed the battery on my 2005 4.2 XK8. After that the clock started to run fast, it gains about 15 mins in every hour. Odd? I'll see if I can buy the 3 dial cluster on eBay & replace the old one. Your video is very helpful. 👍 PS. Just subscribed.

Why anyone would do away with wood burl - especially REAL wood burl - is beyond me! At least whoever did the FAKE carbon fiber did a half way decent job at it. My center section had the GPS which I swapped out for a "real" one, a Garmin I bought on ebay which works really well. I found that an epoxy like JB Weld sticks really, really well to the aluminum assuming you rough up the metal first, I used a bead blaster and it did a nice job in only seconds. Would work well for your broken tab.

Andork, was just playing around looking for a cream and black contrasting interior. It worked well and looked reasonable (IMHO). Luckily I don’t need to use the central veneer with the broken tab abs wasn’t the original burr walnut one. However, I may try to repair as you say with epoxy. Good tip to prepare the surface. Great video! May I ask where I can get the Burl wood panels? My panels are deteriorating as the clear-coat is flaking off.

Mr Leffel, unfortunately, mainly used / second had parts available, new old stock is very rare. Best to check Jaguar Breakers yards and make sure you get a matched set with correct airbag tethers for your model year. Although difficult, might worth trying to remove the clear coat lacquer and reapplying, especially if only one panel has a problem, Sorry cant be more helpful, regards Damian.
