What's funny, is that I had a coolant line to my expansion tank come off yesterday. The previous owner had secured it with a wire tie, instead of a clamp at the "T" plastic coupling! I replaced the coupling with a brass fitting and clamps. So you're exactly correct, you never know the dumb things previous owners do. My car is a 03 XKR.

Hi ... Damian, thanks for showing us. It's interesting to see. Sometimes I have a drop under my car.Coolant. I need to remove the container and see where it's coming from; the video helps me with that.

Good stuff; I’ve heard of people needing to replace all the plastic in the cooling system because a prior owner was using the wrong type of fluid, red vs. green etc. It’s like the Matrix, you need to take the right color pill to remain in Wonderland. . .

Interesting as always Damian. I have a 98MY, 99 reg XKR. I've assumed it is the AJ26 engine, am I correct? I've seen your earlier video on that topic awhile ago but a comment you make during this video suggests it would be an AJ27.

Bernard, most likely AJ26. Which comment in the video made you think otherwise? Noticed a lot of the XKR actually have a tee in the supply to the thermostat and I assume the radiator. No tower in these due to the supercharger so not the same high point the remove any air traps. Does yours have T piece?. Thanks for the comment regards Damon

Hi Roland, just picked up on your video of the XKR Coolant tanks, I have the XKR 2003 with the MJD4400BA Tank, for years I have had this problem of low coolant and had everytihng cheecked out by an independat Jag Specialist and they cannot understand why the light comes on when hot. When you start the car up cold its fine but when hot the light come on, I have had 3 expansion tanks from Jaguar with electrics and had the coolant changed to Jaguars recomended RED. But proven to me by Jag specialist when very hot, the float is dropping, and remains down until the coolant cools, any ideas? Had the car now for 13 years and lived with this problem for the 8 years Kev

Kevin, interesting new problem. Can’t be the expansion tanks. Assuming it’s something that changes when hot. Ideas 1/ recommend checking the atmospheric tank, inside the LHS front wheel arch liner. What is the coolant level like in this? Is it venting to atmosphere, blocked vent? Does its level increase when hot, blocked pipe? 2/ Water pump or thermostat excess coolant flow forcing the float down? Narrowed pipework increasing flow, broken impeller bit or stuck thermostat? or 3/ wiring loom short when hot. Trapped or damaged wiring? Sorry can only give some ideas as never heard of this issue before. None of these are expensive if you check and change yourself. Please let us know what you find, regards Damian

Hi there. Do you have the part numbers for the hose to the thermostat for the 4.2 litre not supercharged 2004 model . I think it is MJA4468AF.

Hakob, The idle to controlled electronically via the ECM. There was a TSB 303-29 advising to change the sharp plug gaps to 1.3mm to improve idle quality, see link below, drive.google.com/file/d/1PitFk5opW87jCcqr-5Qa55LNb5OdWxVw/view Idle is mentioned in JJM181515-70 including diagrams, see link below. Gary, this sort of thing really separates the good cars from the bad. Hence why IMHO Enthusiast owned cars are normally the best buys. Fixing all the poor repairs and results of penny pinching. Thanks for your reference will check that out. Thanks for the comment regards Damian
