I know it's a long shot but maybe the water leak you have on the interior could be causing some form of problems within the Jags wiring that cannot be seen corrosion etc of terminals hidden from sight with the damp atmosphere. I would personally make a space for it within your barns somewhere and investigate the water leak. I have a fiesta that had a similar problem. Good luck cannot wait untill you get it sorted Kev Devon👍👍

Hi Kev, good to hear from you buddy. That is a very good idea, there are some electrics on the end panel of the dash there, so you never know. I will be getting it in the barn as soon as I can, then we can have a good look around and see what's going on 👍

Hi Simon. That’s my next step MAF. My chap is stumped about my restricted performance. He asked his technician friend from jaguar and three of them said the same thing. So Iv bought two o2 sensors all ready at £100 each which is not the problem and now MAF at £200 + labour at what ever that going to be. Still not got the car back. 🤷♂️

Hi steven, that's a bit of a nightmare for you then, buddy. That's the road I'm trying to avoid, buying parts just to see if that is my problem. It's always going to be a bit of a lottery. Let's hope the MAF will sort it for you, then mate, fingers crossed for you 👍

I had the same problem I tried 3 maf It got better but only when I tried a denso and matched the serial number with the original model and the car has been perfect and passed all emmision test

Hi buddy, that's great advice. I have found a used one with the same part number, so may be worth a gamble 8 guess?

There is a massive air leak in the engine. As soon as the engine started a hissing sound is clearly heard. That is the root cause to lumpy engine idle. Also the amount of moisture inside of your car is huge?
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, you can definitely hear the whoosh of air as you say, hopefully a smoke test will reveal any leaks as visually I cannot find one. My drivers side footwell is full of water as i have a leak on the door rubber, it's on my list of things to do 😃
@Saaketti7 ай бұрын
@@projectsinthebarn With that amout of water inside a car you will get black mold and that is very bad for a health. Not to mentioned what moisture does to electrics.
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
@Saaketti I totally agree mate, it will be in the barn very soon and the leak sorted out 👍

I had a four cylinder misfire in my xk . When cold it was fine went off when the car warmed up . Turned out to be a blown capacitor in the ecu and a bit of re soldering required
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, thanks for getting in touch. It's interesting that it was the ecu at fault, as I'm sure it's very possible that mine may be an issue after sitting for so long 🤔

have you checked th full load breather pipe ? they are known for cracking. Also check the fuel trim levels to check O2 sensors, When one of them fails it can do wierd things.
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
Hey buddy, thanks for getting in touch. The full load breather looks to be OK, though I have had it on and off a few times lately. I think a smoke test is in order, which hopefully will show any air leaks in the system. Hopefully, it will be a simple fix 👍

Hi Simon. Seems like the 4.0 MAF only available from Jag, unlike all others you can get a Denso which is OEM. Did a quick search and autoreserve has them for 62 quid used. They say its in working order. Its a gamble but might work. Your maf is not working for sure. Good luck.
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, that's very kind of you to check. Looks like a spare from auto reserve jaguar will be the one, I'll get onto their website and order it up, so I appreciate the heads up, buddy 👍

Don't double lock when battery is low, as you're not using the car always disconnect the battery negative, xk's drain batteries like they are going out of fashion if not used daily. Mine with a new battery drains within 2 weeks if left. I still thinking it's the O2 sensors. If you're doing a restoration it's worth changing all that old stuff anyway as by now it's all past it's best anyway and will only cause problems down the line.
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
That's some great advice on the O2 sensors, I guess it would be well worth getting them swapped out like you said. Once I'm in the barn with the XKR I will get it hooked up to a battery maintainer to keep it nice and topped up 👍

Hi just been on marketplace and there a XK on there for spares for 500 pounds, My offer up all the spares for yours? just a though. Dave
@projectsinthebarn7 ай бұрын
Hi Dave, that could be an idea to have a spares car, if only I had the room mate. I appreciate you letting me know though buddy 👍
