I give Trent and that front office a lot of crap but this was a masterclass in itself. They set this contract up to where it barely has an effect on our cap space for 2 more years. I'm honestly surprised that Trevor agreed to that but it just shows once again that he wants to win and he knows we will need cap space to keep pieces around him on offense. He wants to be here. As of now him and Josh are the clear cut leaders of this team and I personally think thats a great duo for the offense and defense. We all know Trevor has some fumbling issues and a bad habit of trying to play hero ball when a play is completely blown. I firmly believe he's going to grow out of those habits. In '21 the O-Line wasn't very good and the other supporting cast wasn't much to brag about. In '22 the line was better for a good bit of the games and you could see those throws...not just throws absolute elite passes like in the Ravens or Cowboys games. However in '23 the interior of that line fell apart. Bartch was gone, Fortner regressed big time, and Scherff was injured most of the season. The Center really killed our season. You cannot operate in any kind of good capacity when the guy that snaps the ball gets thrown back into the QB off the snap or cannot get any kind of push in the run game. It hurts the interior 3 of the line. Scherff and whoever happened to play the other guard spot every week had to try and assist to make up for Fortners inability and that made it hard for them to do their own job. It put our offense in bad situations and it made Trevor feel at times like he needed to press the issue and be the hero. That caused turnovers at bad times. That also got him hurt. He's NEVER dealt with injuries like that in his football career at any level. That was his first time not only getting an injury but having 3-4 injuries at once and he still refused to sit down. Hes a LEADER. You want that from your QB. I have no doubt as long as Mitch Morse is healthy that O-Line will be able to open up running lanes for ETN & company. We get that going again then play action is going to be LETHAL with the threats we have catching the ball. To the people that don't think we should have signed him.... I'll ask this..who else you gonna get? Mac?🤣🤣 Trevor is our guy and hes young still. Hes not even in his prime yet. With this contract out of the way i hope we can get another veteran DB. Our worst move of the offseason was letting D-Will walk. Our depth at Corner is our biggest weakness and I'm not sold on Tyson. Lets get these throwback uniforms on and pack the stadium this fall! Shoot. It doesn't have much affect on our cap for 5yrs. $27.6mill is the average through 2028. We will be able to keep building easily with that low an average.
