I love how Tuba Skinny always gives each musician a solo, with the others backing up him or her. Then they're always perfectly in time and in tunes. Pure pleasure!

Many thanks, James. Interesting to hear Shaye say, at 06:57, 'Just in E flat'. When they play 'You Gotta Give Me Some' with Erika doing the vocals, they usually start and finish in E flat but she sings it in B flat; Greg prefers to stay in E flat.

To me, "Gimmie Some" has become their theme song. Shaye's look on her face during Craig's long note is hysterical lol. People, just when you think Shaye has reached her peak , she comes up with a solo that is out of this world. There's no stopping this brilliant woman/musician. wnhoel band has improved over the last 5 years...very tight, very musical, and very skilled. one of these days I'm gon to "Sash=Shaye" down to New Orleans or somewhere to see them in person. It ain't just the music, it;s the individuals in the band...I don't care what their backgrounds are, they are fabulous and bring peace and joy to the world through their human touch on the performances. That is what music is supposed to do. This is a great band here, and becomes greater whenever Erika Lewis tours with them, as she brings a certain aura and vitality with her, like that extra ingredient that makes the meal that already tastes good, now tastes superb. It's not rocket science, it's just intuitive.

Agreed Steve. As many times as they have played it, they always seem to come up with a fresh take. You can compare Shaye's playing on this version to the previous one I posted to see what I mean: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i52Qlmala99gmc0&ab_channel=JamesSterling

@stevegrooms11423 жыл бұрын
@@helpstopanimalabuse8153 it helps me to compare and contrast Shaye's playing with that of Louie Armstrong. He plays like a man who wants to stand out, and given his personal history and status as a black man in a white world, that is totally understandable. He did, by God, stand out. Shaye plays like a woman who wants to blend in with her band's sound (hence the heavy and nuanced use of mutes). She plays one of the most strident instruments in the world of jazz, but she plays it as someone primarily concerned about the ensemble sound.

Its aways fun to see the predictable reaction to the washboard solos. I think its cause its so physical, it's loud and cuts through, and I also wonder if the average person can relate cause they think they could possibly play that instrument?
