The CJ captures the localizer and glideslope just fine (well, as fine as the rest of the planes do). You forgot to change the nav input from fms1 to loc1/vor1. on the control panel for the PFD, above the baro dial, there is a button that says NAV (not the AP nav button). If you press it, it will change the navigation input from FMS to VOR/LOC. You can see it happen in the green lettering on the upper left of the map on the PFD. Once it's changed over, the LNAV will follow the localizer and the approach button will arm, and capture, the glideslope.

I would assume The BTM near Singapore is near the Hang Nadim Airport of Batam Island (WIDD/BTH), it's hardly an airfield it's an airport with a 4000m runway. They actually did a pretty good job on the islands between here, whenever we're descending it's what I see it really captures the feeling of entering Changi (in my opinion). The distance between Batam and Singapore is about 30Km (1 hour ferry ride) and yes there are a lot airport in that area, there are a bunch in Singapore alone. There's the nearby Johor Bahru airport (Malaysia), Multiple airports in the Riau Islands area with Batam and Bintan. For GA traffic as point out in the comments it's more common to use Seletar airport in Singapore and in Jakarta to use Halim (WIHH / HLP). I would love to see Bali (WADD/DPS) or my hometown (WICC/BDO) as it is in the city, but I doubt the autogen would do it justice though.

1:01:56 I don't think those trees should be there on the left LOL. I would have loved to fly low around the area to see how those housing estates are modelled in-sim and also the major highways. The approach looks so eerily real though. I have flown countless times in and out of Singapore and that approach gives me goose bumps!! Those islands Pulao Ubin and Pulao Tekong are right where they should be and how they should look in that weather and time of day! And that coast on the right of the airport where I spent a lot of weekend afternoons.... Just amazing. Thanks for this video!

I'm surprised how well they captured the layout of Soekarno-Hatta Intl'. The building shapes are all off, but for an autogen airport it's done pretty well, I saw they got the new crossing taxiway in there as well. Anyways, nice video. Keep it up!

Just a FYI.... I have seen a couple other vids by other beta testers where they found that (until its fixed) turning off then on again the auto-pilot will fix the issues of rocking/porpoising temporarily... May take a few times but they always have gotten it under control. Maybe you could try it and see if it helps on your end as well. Literally just turn it off, wait a sec, turn it on again.

One thing that could be looked at is how the custom made skyscrapers will draw at a much greater distance than autogen. It’s quite noticeable in Singapore because the marina bay sands hotel is one of the only buildings modelled. It made me wonder if going forward, autogen buildings over a certain height could be drawn at a similar distance? We know why the general buildings and trees have a limit to have far they’re drawn, but tall buildings are far fewer, so perhaps could be drawn at a similar draw distance to the custom talls, so that they ain’t sitting there lonely.

Use a checklist always for every stage of flight, its more fun and nothing is forgotten. Pitot really should be on before take off. Engine anti-ice on when outside air temp is +10 or below in visible moisture. Rule of thumb for calculating initial top of descent is 3 x height in nautical miles so if you are at 33000 you start descent with 99 route miles to touch-down and add 5 for slowing down to 250k below 10000 and final approach speed. MSFS may not have the correct tuning to achieve this but worth a go, be interesting. It never worked on FS2004. The step descents on FMC usually work out. Great flight thanks for sharing.

OK, the magenta diamond at 54:40 is NOT the vertical profile, but your ILS glide slope (GS), so it will effectively go back up when going away from the destination airport, which is normal. And to catch the GS, you must FIRST intercept the LOC from ILS, which you were definitely not on course at that time. And finally, there is no need to use the CRS knob for localizer (it's only for VOR course).
@datpilot1737

The CRJs also do not have auto throttle and allow you to choose a Cost Index. All that does is compute your cruise speed to achieve the desired fuel burn vs time performance. Without auto throttle, you just have to find the right setting to achieve that speed for that altitude. The CRJ helps you with this by providing a speed trend indicator as part of the speed tape, but it doesn’t look like this aircraft has that.

With jet flying, you pitch for speed after take off, and just let it climb. 4000 to over 6000 fpm are normal. The reason you are overspeeding a lot is because you are restricting your initial climb rate to 2000 fpm.The CJ4 needs about 4000 fpm initial climb rate.

The texture glitch you saw is actually not a texture glitch. It's when 2 (or more) 3D objects are on top of one another, which means in this case that the building that was glitching has been duplicated and placed on the same spot, which is what makes it flicker. This is probably just a generation bug when your PC load the map.

Could be wrong but when I fly business jets rate of climb is no bad thing, these smaller engines are not fuel-efficient down low, learnt this from the eclipse 550, even doing short hops I found that top of climb and top of descent being close to each other is no big deal because it helps with fuel economy. just to touch on two points you mentioned at the start. When you push back (Shift + P)... you follow that by either 1 or 2 ... I think 1 for push left and 2 for right or vice versa .. don't remember which is which, but that how it used to be in the old versions.

The startup sounds for the CJ4 are top tier.. Have a fair bit of flying time in one lol. Also, it climbing like a rocket ship is a big selling point for single pilot business jets lol

You should use the FLC mode on the autopilot when climbing. Then you can set the thrust you want and the autopilot will make changes in pitch to keep the speed you had when engaging FLC.

I have the premium deluxe version pre ordered on steam, can’t wait to try it out. For sure you should check out Thailand, it’s one of the most beautiful countries, check out Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai. So many cool places to go to. Will be nice once there is some of the good old planes available, like B727, VC10, DH Beaver, Piper Seneca, Golden eagle 421. Etc.

Dont get me wrong Im just as hyped as you are for the new sim, cant wait for the sim to be out, But heres my criticism from what I see in the video, terminal buildings def does not close look like the real one (looks more like residential buildings ngl) ATC towers are kinda there (got the general shape but hey), the "GA ramp" where he parked is actually the military base used to house the RSAF (Singapore airforce) Fokker 50s and now retired KC135s (Also know as changi base west) (Theres also east base with their own runway 02R/20L used for A330MRTT). As far as I know there are no GA ramps at changi and private jets (which rarely lands at changi as they usually land at WSSL seletar airport) go to the separate parking area south of the terminals. Overall tho the rest looks amazing and apart from the terminals, Im still impressed 10/10

Amazing. Looks like an ambient occlusion is set too high in the game. It doesn't really look authentic unless it's dialed down a bit. Otherwise it adds this dark brown occlusion on the corners/edges. Stunning visuals in flight.

I think I might know why the autopilot didn't capture the approach. If you look, when you pressed APPR (at 56:25 ish), the glideslope was dead center (pink dot on the right scale), however, you hadn't captured the localizer yet (pink dot on the lower scale). Usually the APPR function on these aircraft requires that the aircraft starts on the glideslope and localizer, otherwise it doesn't know what it needs to track and thence will not track anything. Great video!

You used indicated speed for your descent calculation, you needed to use groundspeed instead because that is the speed you are moving across the ground. So if you wanted 2000fpm from FL370 to FL210, that is 8mins, e.g. 420knots GS is 7nm/min so that equates to 8min x 7nm/min = 56nm from REPOV. Correct me if I'm wrong but that should be a more accurate way to plan the descent. Bear in mind however that your groundspeed will change as you descend. A nice rule is 5 x GS to give required ROD for a 3 degree profile. Nice video!

Thank you for this video! Finally I can see the default Soekarno-Hatta scenery. Have to say, very satisfied with the surrounding area, less work for custom content or add-on creators. As always, the autogen confuses warehouses with office buildings and small office-home office (SOHO) building complexes with medium sized office buildings. But love the overlays, they are totally accurate instead of just "standing water here" and some general road there. BTW, that ramp is Soekarno-Hatta's cargo ramp. They also confuse the autogen to generate a terminal building there LOL. Anyway, the flight planner is a massive improvement from previous FS series, but still hit or miss, X-Plane's IFR flight planner is much better at this point. Finally, FS recognise SIDs and STARs, hopefully the ATC will be better integrated with the function than X-Plane's. But they still don't follow the typical airways, Jakarta-Singapore (WIII-WSSS) usually uses G579, which passes through Palembang PLB VOR that ends at REPOV, where your STAR begins.

01:06 hmmmm..... something is wrong *checking map..... yep, that should be cargo terminal instead of normal passenger terminal also, the ATC tower isn't surrounded with circular building like that and seems like they have issues with rooftop, terminal 1 & 2 has more traditional rooftop
