I'm surprised Tommy doesn't incorporate his training style more in his fights. I've noticed tommy in fight, collides & locks up A LOT with his opponent. Like he doesn't understand how to attack and shift & manage distance so you don't smother your own ability to stay on the offense and not abruptly getting his rhythm stopped by falling into the clinch of his opponent. (If Tommy could overcome this bad habit that I see in almost every fight he's had, then I feel like Tommy could really improve) *It's impressive how much Jake has learned what works for him and what he's good at in such a short amount of time, and he's been able to implement it into his fights. AND he has been able to OUT perform Tommy ALREADY cardio endurance & strike out put wise. More rounds then Tommy has ever done. Sure Jake isn't the best but he makes what he does do well, work out well for him in fights.

To be considered a fighter by your peers, you have to box an actual professional boxer. Beating Silva was as impressive as beating Askren. 16 year old professional boxers would beat Silva, woodley. I do wonder even if Jake wins this fight, then the true haters will just say he fought a terrible boxer. Now one of Tommy’s quick jabs are also powerful and could see Jake not being used to that. I feel like Tommy inadvertently won the mental games of this. Him not fighting the first two times has given Jake so much confidence that so many people think Jake has the skills he needs to fight someone who constantly moving and aiming at the head. Jake has virtually zero defense. People think Jake planting that right hand is gonna get Tommy as if Tommy's fight IQ can't see it and slip it.

He gets caught by right hands a lot in his fights so Jake definitely has a chance there. Of course I would assume tommy and his team will be aware of this and try to prevent Jake from landing with that right hand but I can see Tommy slipping and getting caught in the later rounds. Other than that I agree with your overarching point, I think the fact that Jake is the favorite for this fight may give him a false sense of confidence. Tommy may not be the best boxer but his output is on a complete different level than woodley and Silva. He probably lands more jabs in one fight than Silva and woodley did in all their fights vs Jake. This is gonna be Jake’s biggest test BY FAR and Jake will definitely need to tinker and advance upon the way he fought vs Silva. If he doesn’t then he will lost almost all of the early rounds and will need a ko in the later rounds to get a win which is something you should never bank on.
