Personally I don't think they needed to fake this one. It wasn't scripted. It's just the reality of a pensioner not being in shape. The silly clips of Tyson training were a few seconds long hitting pads or heavy bags that don't hit back. In the actual fight Tyson's legs were so gone he was struggling to stay standing after 2 rounds, which ain't shocking from a man who was walking with a cane recently. The only people conned were the casuals that thought Tyson had a chance. Anyone who even saw the public workout this week knew how ugly it would be, or even the people who saw the Roy Jones Jr fight.

Exactly. It's a professional bout, athletic commissions and regulators have to ensure it's a genuine sporting contest. That's why people are able to place bets on the outcome -- it's not predetermined. If it were that would be fraud, everyone involved would be liable for massive civil class action lawsuits from people who lost money, bans from the sport, etc. He's just a low level boxer calling out washed MMA fighters, and in the case of Tyson, a damn near 60 y/o former champ, to sell PPV events. I genuinely think that anyone who believes Mike held back is on copium. Mike looked like his knees were done after round one, it's as simple as that, and after Jake wobbled Mike that one time he looked like he finally realized how old Mike actually is and began to hold back. On a technical level, he doesn't compare, but having functioning legs is really all he needed. It was a letdown, but I still maintain Goyat was a far worse disappointment in the first main card fight.

I don't think it was scripted in the sense that Mike could have knocked Paul out. His feet looked so slow (he was in a wheelchair a few months ago because of his back and almost when arse over tit on the steps to the ring ) he could not close the distance. Ultimately, he got a short reach and if can't close the distance he is knackered. Whatever Mike was is is now a 58 year with health problems, he did the best he could. Did Paul hold back on trying to knock Mike out? Maybe.

It's not the fight itself that gave me a pit in my stomach, because they all signed the dotted line and it is what it is. What bothered me the most was the aftermath, where legit champions like Dubois and Beterbiev are giving him the time of day and offering him their title shots. I know it's a potential easy cash grab and boxers at the end of the day are prizefighters, but that's the true sign that fighting credibility is thrown out of the window now. When there was a clear divide between influencer boxing and legit boxing, I was fine with it because you know what show you're in for. This grey area where legit champions are getting in line to fight an influencer with a sharp business acumen is like water getting splashed on the concept of integrity. If he actually fights those champions (which obviously won't happen but it's still a bit embarrassing,) then they have to take the same criticism that Fury faced when he fought Ngannou, except Ngannou actually is a true monster in the ring.

serano was hard done by in both fights, I think in the second she was just outright robbed and cheated, taylor was dirty, nearly a dozen headbutts and a couple of elbows that the ref turned a blind eye too, she should have lost multiple points if not outright DQ. To top it off serano out punches her by well over a hundred punches in both fights, not alot difference in the work (quality wise), but katie wins by a big margin, oh and also the first round should have been a knockdown, ropes kept katie up, another ball the ref dropped, I'm surprised they weren't tripping over the damm things, ring must of being full of them. I realize Tyson is old, but the training clips I saw were much longer than a few seconds. He had incredible power and short bursts of speed. He may not have had his same level of agility, but it's a fact that the Tyson we saw in training was not the same man we saw in the ring. Now, in my opinion, it seems that Tyson was pulling his punches. He would stop short of hitting Paul on many occasions. He wouldn't move in when he had plenty of opportunity to, even with his hurt knee. I think we should take Tyson at his word when he said he doesn't care about his fighting legacy. Most likely, he wanted the cash payout (20 million plus whatever the promoter gave him to throw) to leave his children, whom he cares deeply for.

It was a genuine fight. Only thing is one guy is an elderly man who was past his best in his 30s, and the other was more than half his age. It would have been embarrassing had Paul not won. Thank god I didn’t watch it live, only saw the fight the morning after, and it never should have been sanctioned.
