What I really loved about the episode “The Box” is that it really set things up for season 8 where Kevin wanted to leave and divorce Raymond because it showed that Raymond had put the job over their marriage, however, it also had set up the perfect and ultimate reconciliation and genius rededication ceremony for their vows in that episode that all but thawed out this fan’s ice water flowing in his veins. I mean think about it, Raymond had chosen, working a case and staying there all night, instead of spending an evening with his husband in a tuxedo at the opera. I don’t blame Kevin for wanting to leave Raymond, but by working that extra hard to save their marriage they, he more than proved how much they mattered. Raymond and Kevin Holt forever.

That really bugged me about the final series. Your explanation goes some way to resolving it, but it was never really mentioned, and then final series comes round, boom... Holt and Kevin who had previously been almost this perfect couple apart from one or two episodes are suddenly about to break up. Felt completely out of character.

Interestingly enough there’s at least one prominent figure in feminism that would agree with that: Susan B. Anthony, the woman who was found guilty of a robbery, was about to get off for it with a warning because of her being a girl, and actively demanded to be arrested in response.
