I like how it tried to innovate the fighting formula specifically towards casuals. That yakuza-like open world they introduced here was such a great idea and it fits perfectly with the vibe of the game. It might not be perfect but it's a hell of a step up from previous fighting games, i'll give them huge credit for that one.

As a longtime SF player, I think the single player mode is brilliant - specifically, it takes the things that make learning a fighting game daunting (…grinding, gradually increasing skills, losing a lot) and discouraging to new players and wraps it up in this fun little harmless cute package. Learning any established fighting game involves losing to players a lot, which is discouraging and demoralizing, but this basically replicates the experience without the moral injury. Which makes it funny to me that longtime fans are hating on it.

I'm spending more time in World Tour. I'm enjoying every seconds of going around searching for and learning from the Masters while leveling up. I've used Ken's style on Ryu when I first encountered him landing a Chun Li's level 2 Super Art on him. This was a great addition to the regular Arcade and online features traditionally in fighting games.

World Tour Mode is the reason I picked up this game. It reminds me of a better version of Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign mode and Tekken 3-4 Tekken Force. I am looking forward to the addition of DLC characters to the mode. Learning Akuma's moves is going to be so much fun.

Its crazy how spot on this is. As a casual player that enjoys fighting games but is no good due to how technical it can be, this is the first fighting game where it really teaches how to be technical without it being overly complicated. I've always found myself downloading fighting games (usually Mortal Kombat) and playing them for a bit but getting to a point where I didnt feel like I could get better. A lot of comments like yours are making me want to try SF6 because it seems good for casual players who dabble in fighting games from time to time, which then helps them learn to then go into online

@@Ziggz47 I’ve been playing it and honestly with the modern controls, I’m enjoying it a lot more than I expected. I’d only play mortal kombat because when it came to combos or even pulling off special moves, mk was much more easier to pull them off compared to SF and Tekken.

I think what's great about World Tour mode is that it doesn't just teach you fighting game fundamentals. It also teaches you the fighting game mindset. The masters you train under, the characters of Street Fighter 6, all fight because they enjoy fighting. Winning is secondary. They enjoy the act of fighting itself first and foremost. Most of the characters are friendly or on good terms with one another. Ken and Guille are literally family. Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly are practically neighbors. They fight one another because they simply enjoy fighting and grinding themselves to get even stronger. Almost all of them have the biggest smiles on their faces as they fight, and they actively support your created character as they train them. The world of Street Fighter 6 as presented through World Tour is basically a representation of the FGC, with the SF playable rosters being the top players of their world.

I can second your statement about experience in one carrying over to another. I’ve been playing Guilty Gear Xrd and Strive for a while, and those games (alongside BlazBlue) make up almost the entirety of my fighting game experience. Like half of the special moves in those require quarter-circle inputs to trigger, and it turns out that it seems like all of Street Fighter 6’s special moves are quarter-circle turns. Made things much easier on me since I was already very experienced with that lol

I loved fighting games as a kid. I'm 37, so they were big when I was young. I played several MK games, beginning with the first, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III ended up as my favorite at that time. I also had Street Fighter 2 Turbo which I played a ton of. Always fun using special abilities of each character. But now, I'm even less than casual. Mortal Kombat X on PS3 made me rage so much that I decided fighting games are no longer for me. I recently played the SF6 demo and I enjoyed it, but it is hard for me to pick up and understand since my last SF was back in the SNES era. Like you, I used modern controls for a while and ultimately went to classic so I could feel more responsible for what I'm doing. Based on your footage, you're way better than me now. Maybe because you've played a lot more than I have or maybe it just clicks with your brain a lot better than it does with mine. I'm sure both reasons are true, but I think you also pick it up easier than I do now. Overall, I think it's a cool game. I'd love to play more than what the demo had to offer, but I'm too casual about it to feel comfortable with buying the full game. Maybe in a couple years.

I’ve always been a few notches above casual when it comes to fighting games. Always had a ton of appreciation for them and loved playing them my whole life but aside from smash I never seriously played any of them competitively. Street Figther 6 is the first time I’ve been hooked on just grinding ranked matches in a traditional fighter and thanks to modern controls and world tour doing a great job at teaching a lot of core mechanics I feel like I was eased into things without much intimidation. I currently have a Silver Kimberly which I know is nothing special but I’m still just having a blast playing every day when I can learning new combos. This game is really something special for the genre I think!

I loved SF2 back in the arcades and genesis days, but missed out on the PlayStation era greats (Capcom vs. SNK 2 is maybe my favorite fighting game I've played?) because I was on Xbox. Got back into the series with 4 and gave loved every minute of it. SF4 was THE bro night game in the 360 era alongside NHL. I love seeing what Capcom is doing with SF6. The game plays as tight and technical as ever, but between World Tour mode and modern controls, they've done a great job of broadening the appeal without compromising gameplay. My cousin's wife who "played some Tekken back in the day" whipped my ass using Modern Controls, and I was pulling out all the stops. That's when I knew this was something special. Bonus points for essentially making a new Final Fight INSIDE a Street Fighter game. So glad to hear non-hardcore fighting game players enjoying this so much! Keep up the great work Jake. You continue to be one of my favorite gaming channels.

I did try to get good and dedicate to learning more about fighting games when Injustice came out and honestly it was very fun. However, I always noticed Street Fighter and was very familiar with the characters. So when SF4 came out on mobile, I tried it out and it was cool but it seemed a bit more challenging than Injustice, especially since it was a mobile game with limited controls. All that said, I was really drawn in to SF6 and I only took notice of it about a week before release. I had to buy it and I’m really happy with it so far. My favorite part about the game is adding something like world tour, it makes me think about how SOR4 integrated battle mode into the game and it really works because the characters fight in a style that can be comparable to say a SF to some degree. Tekken Force which started in tekken 3 comes to mind as well, I feel it’s always a plus to have some extras to be more than just a “fighting game”.

Recently, I started catching up on PS4, so the first of the interesting games I launched was Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat X. For a casual player, re-entering Tekken was not that difficult, knowing Hwoarang, my main character from previous games, quite well. In MKX, I mastered the basics of each character pretty quickly to complete a tower with each and eventually move on to MK11. And here it starts to be a bit overwhelming, because when I mastered the basic Kung Lao combo in MKX, so in MK11 I repeat a different, similar combo over and over again, it comes out much harder for me in training, not to mention bringing it out in a proper fight. The level of accessibility of the new MK has drastically increased to the level of more tournament players. I hope that the newest MK1 will not push so much in this direction. And abaut Street Fighter to catch up with Sfvi I need to know sfv first

Ive been a casual enthusiast of fighters since SF2 on SNES and for me SF6 is the best street fighter after SF2 and the most accessible after that title as well or if you put relevance into the equation the most accessible. Most of what is there is great but its also a mish mash and depending on what you want from it you may just be better off playing another game entirely. The world tour mode is a case in point. It definitely has Yakuza vibes but it is a poor mans copy of it. The city is lifeless, unimaginative and poorly written in comparison to that series at least from what I have played and seen which is only Yakuza 0-2. It can also be extremely grindy especially if you want a characters classic costume as while they are technically free Capcom definitely wants you to pay more for them. It does try and teach you relevant skills through missions (sometimes) and that is great but for single player modes I feel SC1 - SC3 VF4 and MK9 are still my top picks. I have heard good things about Granblues but have not played that yet. I feel SF6s just lacks focus doing a lot passably but nothing really well. Its a bit disheartening to see that single player content in fighters peaked years ago and has only just started to resurface. Arcade mode is fun and like all the games story doesnt take itself to seriously and has minigames back in. Only wish there was more presentation on the character select screen to shape the world even if it is only a map like SF2 had. I am liking the return of the continue screen but unless it is in versus offline it doesnt look like there are replays of final match moments which is a shame but then SF usually doesnt have those as its more of a 3D fighter thing. The fighting is great and a lot of fun but I wish they had gone only classic or modern and committed to a control scheme as I feel this approach could lead to balancing nightmares later on. Id say if you are super casual and just want to hit buttons and see flashy lights dont get it just get MK or something. If you are interested in fighters but dont know where to start this is the place. Also disclaimer I think Mortal Kombat and Injustice are trash although MK9 was fun and from that entry onwards they have at least started to show some mechanical competence its just worse than every other fighting game except perhaps some really obscure ones made by one guy in 1 week on steam. Downsides to the game are its business practices, we have a battle pass already. Remember when it used to be an updated version of the game for 20 quid with a few new characters usually 2-20? (probably not for some its been a while) well now its 4 new characters for 25 quid and ofc you still need to have purchased the base game which makes it worse as a value and portability option. There is also the issue of unlocks. This game has multiple currencies and some are almost exclusively gotten through microtransactions which is ofc where they put the good stuff like colours and costumes. No clearing arcade mode for this stuff anymore now its get out your card or grind your ass off in the case of classic costumes in the world tour. Or if on PC mod it. Other downside on PC is it has Denuvo in it and damn does that hinder performance. Luckily my PC can handle smooth 60 fps on max but you know when it boots up that game its drinking the juice. If your in it for the story er...dont play a fighting game for the story unless your expectations are non existent and even then they may not be met (such as MK11). Go play an RPG or better yet read a book or visual novel.

The first fighting game I’ve ever played was Mortal Kombat Armageddon on the original Xbox, I’ve been a MK fan ever since but never really got into Street Fighter aside from playing it at a friends house. I think from what I’ve heard SF6 will be the gateway game for me.

As also somewhat a newbie, Ive really found the modern control scheme and depth of the practise mode really helpful to learn fundamentals and combos - however Ive really struggled with World Tour; initially I found it to be a good way to learn the basic of the game, but Im really not a fan of open worlds and/or doing boring side/fetch quests within them just making you run around; I also find the city you spend most of your time in really uncompelling and often awkward to find your way to certain places - so I've quite quickly become bored of World Tour unfortunately.

Insane Jake, we have the exact same experience with fighting games. Soul Calibur was the best I ever got at fighting games and I actually got pretty good (Ivy main), but everything else was always like, “yeah I’d like to be good, but meh.”

I’m really into fighting games and overall SF6 is a W for the whole community. SF is often seen as the soul of the FGC, and they really knocked it out of the park. There will be tournaments and content for the better part of the next decade, no doubt. Oddly enough, after participating in the beta and the demo, I decided not to pick it up. Once you get into fighting games, you understand there are sub-genres within the genre. SF just ain’t for me. But I’m really happy for the community and the success and attention it is bringing to it.

I'm honestly really enjoying the story for the World Tour mode. Of course I went into it with pretty low expectations, but it's delivered a great time so far. I think I'm most of the way through at this point, and still totally hooked. Waay better than I thought we'd see from a Street Fighter game -- like an awesome modern Final Fight game remixed with SF battles. Well paced, lots of learning baked in.. fairly genius stuff.

I went in to this game having not played much of the street fighter series since SF Alpha 2 came out on Sega Saturn. SF 6 looks and feels like the street fighter game that is made for long time fans of the series, as well as being appealing enough to attract new players . SF6 is going to remembered to many as the fighting game that turned them on to fighting games.

The good thing about SF is they support each game for 5+ years. If dlc is your thing, there's always plenty of new characters, and costumes. The people that don't care for dlc are the ones that wait for sf6 championship edition. That comes with all dlc.
@Sora2314

Yeah that is a downside, Capcom just loves to monetize everything and won't leave much for players to unlock in terms of costumes without paying.
